I was in a pinch to create my famous oatmeal and honey soaps for my client, but I did not have time to order my usual product. I found this after surveying many possibilities, searching for something as close to organic as possible that could get to me fast. The description seemed to fit what we needed, so I ordered it. It came fast, in a day or two, but once I opened the package I could tell it was not as described. I have used 2 other types of glycerin melt and pour honey soaps. Some may even add coloring and more honey oil for scent but the base product is usually very clean and slight honey aroma from real honey added in. This soap looks good but it reeks in the most unpleasant way! As a person with sensitivities to soaps and body products full of chemicals and "fragrances" rather than essential oils, it instantly set off my gag reflex, sneezing and a headache- my usual response to strong perfumes and body sprays that are full of artificial crud. It barely has any honey type scent. I can say this reminded me of perusing my grandmother's dresser as a child in the '80's, the Avon puffs, perfume, lotions and soaps having a strong grandmotherly scent, sort of amplified baby powder and florals. I was super disappointed but I had no option for creating my soaps before the deadline I was given that week for the product. I used them- they work as a melt and pour should. Also another note- the look of the soap does not match the photos. It is very cloudy and muddy, not clear and golden. It is almost matte and a dirty yellow brown tone more than a honey comb. The finished product never lost the awful smell, and believe me, I added the maximum amount of honey oil I could to the mixture before pouring it in molds. I warned my client and they had to take the rest of my honey oil with them to try to overpower the scent with it. The bit I had left, I stored the chopped pieces in ziplocks bags and tossed them in a sealed bin with a lid with a bit of plain goat's milk soap also chopped in its own bag, and that was a MISTAKE I wish I had not made. The entire bin is reeking, the other bag of soap was permeated with the smell and the soap inside took on its properties. The whole thing has been ruined in my opinion. I should have thrown it right out! I put a lot of effort into finding products that are as close to organic, natural and free of artificial scents and colors as I can, so this product's advertising and how it delivered was a complete disappointment. My client found something different for the next batch and sent it to me, and it was exactly as we needed. There is something added to this soap that is not included in the ingredients list or it is an entirely different product. This is reminiscent also of a very strong Neutrogena face bar- I recall using it as a teen, and the color and scent is so close, just way stronger. Every time I see this listing I remind myself to review the product because I wish I had known better and not ended up with it representing my products which people have relied on and trusted.

Soap base melts well but it has a scent that wasnât advertised and I personally didnât care for the scent. Plus since I bought to make my own soap bars with essential oils I have to be really careful with what oils use since not all will layer well with the added scent to the honey soap base

I used eucalyptus essential oil to scent the shampoo bars I made. The soap base doesnât smell great and with the eucalyptus it smells like a super strong âold ladyâ floral smell. I havenât tried the bars yet so I canât attest to the quality but the base melted perfectly.
