I’m happy with this, with some qualifications. It will work as received, but only on 15” wheels, which is all it is sold for. I changed it to work on many sizes (see pic). Now good for 15” through probably 20” something. I cut the hook arm, drilled, and made the extension pieces. A little more cutting might make it work down to 10 or 12”. It won’t work well on those tires that stick out slightly over the edge of the wheel, but one of those slide hammer bead breakers will make a gap so that you can get this tool in and finish the job. Once started, use this one and it is quick and easy. I don’t know where this was made, but it probably starts with a “C”. Looks like it. It is plenty sturdy, but the pivots were 1/4-20 bolts, which seem on the small side, and the thread points were used as the bearing surfaces, which is just shoddy. I enlarged the holes, and used 5/16 bolts. Long ones, so the shoulder is functioning as the bearing, and cut off the extra threads. The points that contact the bead and bead seat area on the wheel were very rough, chrome starting to peel there, 5 min grinding and smoothing with a flap wheel makes them nice. They were rough enough scratch an aluminum wheel deeply. The rest of the chrome is fine as a protective coating. It’s a pretty well made cheap tool with some flaws you can either fix or live with. If snap on sold one of these, it would be $300. I would rather get this one, then change to my liking.
