I picked up this USB-C dummy power pack because I was looking for a way to use my camera without needing to worry about the battery draining over time. The USB-C connector is quite thoughtful, and it allows you to use things like power banks to have a very large battery capacity. The coiled cable allows you to extend the length quite a decent distance, while also staying compact while not in use.Overall, if you are looking for an affordable dummy power pack option, I highly recommend this.๐ 1 Star: I do not recommend this product at all, it has serious flaws and needs to be refined before I can recommend purchasing it๐๐ 2 Stars: This product may have some major flaws, but there is still some good things about it. (I.E. Price)๐๐๐ 3 Stars: This product only has minor flaws or bad instructions, and I can still recommend buying it in most conditions.๐๐๐๐ 4 Stars: This product has very few flaws and I recommend purchasing it.๐๐๐๐๐ 5 Stars: Exceptional product, minimal or no flaws.

Using a PD 3.0 wall wart, I was able to power the a6500 continuously. "Battery" reports 100% for as long as it is plugged in.Despite a few inches of flexible sproingy cable, the cable isn't very long so you have to bring wall power near the camera. The other option is to plug it into a PD battery bank, maybe strapped to a cold shoe mount or a tripod. This dummy battery does not pop out of the battery compartment like my stock and third-party batteries do. I'm wondering if it is not exactly the dimensions of the stock battery. To take it out to shoot with another power source, I had to gently wiggle the cable to move the battery a bit before it would pop out. Stock batteries pop out like greased lightning, despite being much heavier so I think there is an issue.I think a big improvement would be to have a usb-c port inside of the dummy battery and include a usb-c to usb-c cable. Since it's a mostly empty case, there should be plenty of room. That way you could use your own cable, as long or as short as desired. It's ok but could be improved.

When shooting long videos, I use this to keep a constant power supply to my a6400. So far, there have been no issues with overheating or the power getting cut. It's helped me to shoot long films or when I need to just have that constant recording without battery outages. It works very well and I think is a good value compared to buying a bunch of rechargeable batteries and switching them out constantly.

I was skeptical about the applications of a dummy battery but Iโve actually found it quite useful for a few scenarios:- live streaming and using my ZV-E10 as a webcam when connected to my laptop means the camera doesnโt try and use my laptop battery to charge and can stay charged for hours while streaming- itโs great for setting up overnight shots for nighttime and star photography- I appreciate being able to use my camera at home while my other batteries recharge

After wasting money and time on several duds, this dummy battery actually powers my ZV-E10 perfectly - no random shutdowns or error messages like the others I've tried. The USB-C connection is genius since I can use it with my 65W power bank (strapped to my tripod) for all-day shooting. Sure, the cable's a bit longer than needed and gets in the way sometimes, but that's a small trade-off for something that finally works right. For the price, it's solved my biggest headache with this camera. Just make sure your power source is solid - I learned that lesson the hard way!

So, why do I need a dummy battery when the camera has a USB port already and I can leave it running on that?I have several cameras. I use the USB port to keep the camera battery charged and recording for long periods. But here's the thing. Constantly charging the internal battery will heat up, and the charging circuit too, on top of that the camera is on and recording (using processor and writing to the SD card). The whole thing gets really hot. That's when this dummy battery comes in. Using a dummy battery avoids an internal battery from getting hot due to constant charging, and the charging circuit too. The camera now runs half the temperature. I also donโt have cables hanging from the USB port of the camera. The only downside is that if the power source is interrupted, like you accidentally disconnect the USB cable, normally the camera will still run using the internal battery, but not if youโre using a dummy battery.
