Works well to hold them big cantilevered umbrella steady but these fade badly and after one year are entirely washed out gray with only the trim staying black. They look awful now, even though they work well. I wish I’d paid more and gotten the flat weights you fill with water.

Each Base Mate held a 40# bag of sand. Quality of bag and zipper seem to be great. I just put the bag and sand into the base mate bag. They velcro together and hold our off-set umbrella perfectly.

The sturdy bags were easy to fill with sand I purchased. They have been keeping my new umbrella steady and survived quite a few rainfalls and wind without any problems.

These are pretty good strong material. Could be stronger but definitely not the super cheap thin material. I like that the handle straps actually go all the way down and accross to the other handle and not simply seen to the side of the bag. This makes it much less likely to rip off. I kinda wish the zipper was higher or on top of the bag, but instead it's about an inch below the top on the side. Zipper looks like strong plastic or cheap metal (not really sure) but because it's a slightly bigger zipper it looks sturdy. The adding extra gravel I was able to get each bag to 45lbs. You can't put much more. Now my only problem is for cantilever umbrellas you cannot use them how they are intended. I had to lay each bag along the leg of the base in order to make it sturdy enough. You can just put it around the post (see pictures) but is not as sturdy and the edge up the base lifts up a little. Would recommend thought. I'm thinking of buying another set for my 15'x9' umbrella with center post.

Since using these weights my umbrella has not toppled over again. I must say, they are a bit heavy but worth the effort. Better than letting the wind trash the umbrella. Very sturdy, good weight and well made. Not falling apart at all.

You can create the amount of weight needed by how much sand you add. The 2 separate pieces make it easy on/off and the Velcro attachment keeps it together around the umbrella pole.

We purchased outdoor umbrellas for the upcoming 4th of July holiday. Needing to keep the umbrellas from taking flight powered by high winds, I stumbled upon these weight bags that you can fill with sand. Menards, has sand from one manufacturer that is called "sand in a tube." The sand is in a slimmer bag that fits perfectly inside this item. You don't have to open the tubes of sand and pour it in. Instead, you just put the whole tube of sand inside and zip it up. At first I thought the tube of sand might be a bit too big for the container but it turned out to be a perfect match. I purchased 4 of the Rhino Square Umbrella Base Weights and 4 tubes of sand. The tube of sand weighs 45 lbs. each even though that is more weight than I needed for the largest umbrella we bought, the total180 lbs. makes the base even more securer.

Seemingly strong fabric, even when filled with sand. Did not feel like it would rip when I had to move it multiple times around the yard when finding the right place for my umbrella. Like other commenters, I added one sandbag (the whole bag, not loose) into each of the two weighed bags. There's handles on the bags to make moving and positioning them easier. There's also hook & loop on the side with the pole notch to attach each bag to each other. This brace weight will work great for most round bases. However, for a crossbar base, you should do the following, to get a sturdy and solid foundation. This assumes your crossbar base has the bottom lips where you would normally attach them to the ground with bolts. First, get yourself some concrete square step stones. At minimum, get two. But since you're there, get 4, one for each side. They're cheap. Put each of these on top of the lip of the base. Now you've made yourself a nice movable base. Next, put these bags on top of the crossbar. If you've filled the bags with 50lbs of sand, along with the stones you'll have about 300lbs altogether keeping this thing down. And moving won't be a problem since you'll just need to move 50lbs at a time.Pros - Bags seem sturdy and don't look like they will rip. Time will tell if the weathering will cause these to disintegrate - Handles on each side make carrying them and moving them a cinch. - Big enough not to cause any problems when filling with 50lb sandbags without taking the sand outCons - Made mostly for round bases, but can be repurposed (see above) for cross bar bases - If you have a large cantilever umbrella, the 100lbs that this can fit (2 50lb bags) may not be enough. See above for tips on reinforcing with step stones.Overall, this fit my purpose. We were hosting a little kids party and I had to make sure the umbrella stayed put even if some sugared-up kid decided to mess with the umbrella. The combination of this weight and the stones made sure of that.
