Ok. I got this frame because everyone is talking about q snap frames. I don't want to spend a lot of dollars before I know if I like it. So I went with this one instead (and because my friend had this one and said it worked)The assembly was very easy and intuitive. You can absolutely get it done even without the pamphlet. I immediately put my new start into it. (Moira Blackburn, Three Things)The aida fabric kept slipping around something aweful. My hands cramped up from holding it so tight, as if that could stop it.I almost gave up and sent it back. Then I figured I give it one more try, because I really liked that it would not leave marks on the fabric like my wooden hoops do.So I cut some craft felt into strips and used that between my fabric and the clamps and Voila! It is working. It is holding it tight as a drum. The clamps are a bit harder to remove now with the felt, but that's ok.I really wish there were larger sizes available. I am not usually big on plastic, but this makes the work a lot easier because it is so light.I thought maybe the quality would be off, since this is not a brand name, but I was very wrong. It works really well and if they had more sizes, I would buy them. Wish they had a wooden one though, or some other non plastic material. Maybe use something biodegradable for it. That would be awesome. Corn starch, or saw dust, or some such. I am certain it would be possible....

I really like this square universal clip frame for my cross stitch. It holds my soft, lightweight Aida fabric taut and stays put. I wanted this one because it looked like it would fit better into my wooden frame tightening holder, and it does. I use it alone as well. This is a square 9.25" tube frame which is perfect for my projects. To clear up some of the confusion I saw in comments: It lists the measurement as 5.9 square which is correct if you are measuring in hectares (a unit of measurement that measures the area of something, but usually land). The confusion is the description lists 5.9" using the inches symbol. 5.9 hectares equals 9.25 inches. Should drop the hectare measurement and replace it with 9.25" (inches). I really like it. If there are also 8" and 7" square frames in this brand, I would buy those as well for small fabric. With my Prime it came next day. Awesome.

Not likely to go back to hoops. I can't believe how easily this went together (you receive a bag of plastic parts and it's pretty much instinct), how wonderfully it holds my work and just generally how much I don't miss the splintering, over-/under tightening and marks left by hoops. Great product!

Definitely easier than a hoop, but I'm always having to re-tighten the clamps.

The clips are horribly loose so they are not able to hold the fabric taught in the frame. I would not recommend this product!

I bought this to stitch some quilt blocks with but the fabric slips right out. It says you can squeeze the clips to tighten them but it doesn’t really do anything. I gave one away as a gift and neither one of us can make them work. I bought another one that’s called a-snap and it works great. So my recommendation is to buy the brand name. Now I’m out the money for 2 and my friend got an unusable birthday gift.

I find the square/ oblong frames easier to use than the traditional circular ones, particularly if the Aida is heavy. It also doesn't crease the Aida as much as using a circular frame does. Just release the tension a tad and you can tighten it when you back to it. Easy to use. Buy a couple of different sizes and you can mix and match them together to make long narrow projects.

This frame was labeled and sold as 5.9 inches. It was actually 9 inches outside and 8 inches interior dimensions. No good for someone who thought she was ordering an approximately 6 inch frame. Also I don't hate it, but am very dismayed that the size is not as labeled. The paper label on item was also wrong, but it did say 15 cm which is correct and if one were to look very closely at the first photo, one could see that it's not actually the size in the title of the item.
