Your cart is empty. The Avery EZ bird Retriever training dummies are 2/3 the size and weight of a full-sized adult bird for each species, allowing younger or smaller dogs to gain confidence in retrieving the bird to hand consistently. The body is coated in PVC that prevents hard-mouthing and is filled with a dense foam for buoyancy and Real bird feel. Raised v-grip tooth locks allow your dog to firmly grip the bird and the floating hard plastic head will discourage your dog from thrashing.

So, first impressions you would think it wouldn't hold up. After Owning for a few months now i will say it holds up better than the reviews give it credit for. the color and the body itself has held up really well after throwing it with a launcher making it go 100 yards or so surprisingly it has held up to numerous of these throws. The body has held up very well with my dog having a soft mouth.

I had the mallard and dove (which has doubled in price) version already, but the woodduck is ever so smaller than the mallard. Even though they are about 1/3-1/4 smaller than an actual duck they are a great training tool (not chew toy) to get dogs used to the look of a duck instead of a bumper. I haven’t had a problem yet, but I can see one in the future as the string wears out there is no way to reattach the head, but they are cheap enough to replace at $20ish. The picture is 2 wood ducks, a 3” drake retrieve-rite, mallard, dove, and 2” flasher bumper for comparison.

It looks great but mine broke after a couple of throws. The back cracked like it was aged material... Did I get a bad one or is this a known issue... Avery?

I have a 90lb chocolate lab and she lives to train with this. Good durability and weight to it. Not a problem with it.

My labradors love hunting. When I work them during off seasons using typical bumpers, I do a few retrieves with duck bumpers. Occasionally I will put some "duck sent" on a couple of decoys and use them for blind retrieves. My dogs attitudes change from serious to really serious when I use duck bumpers.

Hello everyone,I bought the dummy to do some field work with my 10 month old Nova Scotia Duck Toling Retriever in prep for duck season this fall. Sadly, the belly of this dummy cracked wide open on the first toss into a grass field. If I had to do it over (which I actually did end doing) I would spend a little more money (like $30ish) on a decoy that is one solid piece of the rubberized foam. The rubber on this decoy is about 1/8inch thick molded around more or less a dense sponge. On a side note The shipping cost to return this item is also another $9.
