Factory-direct fresh 10 100-mm pre-poured sterile LB-agar plates and 10 sterile 6-inch long swabs (in 5 pouches). Our plates are manufactured in the USA using the biotech GMP standards. Each plate has a fresh and thick layer of agar. Fresh plates promote faster and more bacterial growth as compared to aged stored plates. Re-sealable packaging is convenient for re-use.
THE SAFEST PLATES FOR STUDENTS
Not all agar plates are made with the same nutrient formula. The LB agar plates in the EZ Bacteria Science Kits are the safest for students to use in school or at home. LB agar plates support the growth of non-fastidious bacteria while the other agar plates such as TSA plates and blood agar plates allow the growth of more dangerous semi-fastidious and fastidious bacteria, respectively. We recommend that you check the ingredients of the agar plates from the other sellers. Learning science is fun, but the safety of students is more important.

I ordered this kit to use for a STEM activity at our library. The convenience of not having to sterilize and prepare the plates myself was a huge draw. The package arrived quickly and, upon inspection, undamaged. The kids had a great time swabbing and spreading the plates and we're just waiting now for the incubation period.

All of the agar plates were contaminated with bacterial growth. Several of the agar plates had 100% coverage of bacterial growth. If these were prepared in and packaged in a sterile environment this would not have happened.

These were nice to use... no moving and pouring. My only issue was that one was contaminated and had something growing in it. They also aren't sealed in any way, so you do have to be mindful when pulling one out of the packaging, to assure you don't contaminate any of the others.

These agar plates were fantastic! The arrived quickly and were packaged so well. The students enjoyed the experiment (swapping their hands, then swabbing the plates). We didn't use a proper control, it was more to see what could happen. The plates incubated nicely, packed in their cardboard shipping box, packed in another cardboard box, near a warm space heater. They grew nicely in approximately 5 days. It was fantastic (and gross) to see what we had grown. I would be happy to purchase these again for another lab experiment.
