Very happy with this product. Much better than placing towels and a garbage bag over my back-flow preventer. I installed this, tie-strapped the bottom, and went ahead and placed a garbage bag over everything to keep the rain off of the insulation cover. I’d buy it again!

So far, this cover has protected my Dad’s well pipes. The temperature was in the low to mid twenties for around eight days; during the day, it warmed up to 32-34; precipitation and ice on one day during the eight day period.

It did it's job!! The past 2 winter seasons, we've wrapped and drained the Sprinkler system as directed. Both times the head cracked despite our efforts. Bought this jacket for this year and it has worked perfect. We turned the system on after a brutal week of freezing temps. No problems! NO CRACKS! Very worth the expense, it pays for itself compared to repair cost.

Unfortunately, this product did not work. The backflow preventer we used it on still burst :(

There are plenty of these covers available and this one appears to be of high quality. I am hoping it will prevent freeze damage to the backflow valve for an irrigation system, which is a pretty expensive device even if you can change it yourself, much less if you have to pay a plumber or landscape guy. The claim is made that this can protect to well below freezing (3 degrees F). I can't verify that claim yet, and of course will be also adding additional pipe insulation for extra protection, but fingers crossed. I am a little surprised that these products all seem to have a layer of cotton for insulation. Not sure if it is really cotton or a mis-translation (that appear all over these types of mass-produced items), but I would opt for a synthetic fabric like polyester for insulation over cotton which loses its insulation value when wet. Although the cover has an outer shell to prevent wetting the cotton layer, it is a questionable design choice.
