I have a lot of pine trees around the outskirts of my property. I constantly have branches that break, but don't come all the way down. I have chains and a "come along" but can't always get them positioned correctly to safely bring them down. This was a great add on to my "amateur arborist" tool kit to loop the offending limb, then pull my chain or heavier rope into position.

This kit was handy when it came time to safely cut down a twelve-year-old oak tree growing in our backyard. We selected the 14 ounce option which was more than sufficient for the project. The included polyester throw line is less likely to get tangled in the tree branches, and is relatively easy to knot, untie, and re-spool. Just remember, to safely bring down such trees, you will need at least one helper to workthe pull line (not included; we borrowed the neighbor's climbing rope for that purpose). To attach the throw line to the pull line, use a heaving line bend or similar knot. To help direct the fall, anchor the pull line to a come-along, and maintain tension during the cutting process. For extra control (especially with larger trees), multiple helpers with separate pull lines can be employed as warranted.

I used to do a lot of tree work, so when I lost a socket retrieving a drone that got stuck in a tree, I remembered to find one of these. Works just as well for drone retrieval as it does for hoisting tools and saws to climbers!🤣

We had a very big broken limb hung up probably 30-35 feet up. If it were to come loose and hit you it would probably kill you. I had some rope purchased from local store but needed to get it around the limb. This kit worked perfectly. I had never used a arborist throw weight but after maybe the 10 try I got it. Worked great. Only issue is the rope as I was taking it from the small reel it had a few places that could very easily break since the orange outer material is torn.

My property has a ton of trees as I live in the woods you can say. This leads to a lot of different projects that need to be done around the property like taking down limbs, cleaning up fallen trees, and sometimes even cutting down a small tree. I bought this because I thought it would help me take on some of these projects a bit easier. The products works, let me start by saying that. The throw bag is heavy enough to get a good toss and you can definitely get it tied around limbs as needed. The problem and the reason only 3 stars is the rope does not seem very durable. It's thin and seems like one good pull from a decent size limb would just stretch and snap the rope.If you are looking to do some basic yard maintenance with this then by all means this is for you. The images in the actual listing show people doing heavy tree work and I wouldn't recommend this for anything like that as I don't trust the strength of the rope.

I don’t the average person can understand the frustration trying to get a string over a limb that’s high in the air, either to pull a rope over the limb to prepare for pulling a tree in a direction when cutting it or just trying to cut the limb… whatever the reason, it can be more than frustrating and maybe dangerous. I’ve been using a shackle tied to a nylon rope and when the shackle comes flying at you… you better be quick, it will hurt you. With this kit, the 14oz “sand bag” and the basically 1/4” (3mm) polyethylene slick throw line, it’s so much more safe, easier… just more functional. This is a quality product. The line doesn’t hold memory, meaning it’s not curled up with what looks like knots that snag and grab anything it comes in contact with when you sling the bag into the air towards the limb, it has no memory. It’s slick, doesn’t tend to grab sticks or whatever when you throw. The bottom line is, if you need to throw a throw line, this is a good one to have. It’s worth every penny to save your frustration and for your own safety. It’s done right, you can’t go wrong with this simple kit.

I got this kit to help me put up a transceiver antenna when I am setting up on location. For operation on HF frequencies, a long, wire antenna works well and it is best to get it a good distance from the ground. This is where this kit comes in handy. Sure, you a can rig something up like washers in sock and that will probably work fine, but sometimes it is just nice to have a purpose built piece of equipment like this.First, the nylon carry bag is made from tough material with a heavy duty D ring on the side. The upper section/mouth of the bag is more flexible so it can be opened wide when the draw string is loosened. A feature I appreciate is the highly reflective band around the top, just under the flexible section. This makes it super easy to find in the dark, which is great for O-dark-thirty setups before dawn. The spool of high tensile strength line is great for repeated use. This 3mm polyester line is very utilitarian, with a 200lb rating and relatively smooth, no snag texture. It fits perfectly in the bottom of the carry bag with enough room around the edge for the line to spool off around the top edge quite smoothly. Finally, the real star of the show is the weighted sack. Filled with a whole pound (the option I ordered) of sand, this thing really builds up momentum when spun around for good throw over a branch. The sack is made from a very flexible and durable fabric. The stitch work is also excellent with extra, heavy stitching near the D ring on top. This D ring is thick, with enough room to attach a wide variety of carabiners, cords, ropes or other things. The possibilities are vast.All-in-all, I really like this throw kit.
