Haven't figured out what I'll be using this for yet, but I have used linear actuators in the past on tv mounts and ceiling projector doors, so i'm sure this will come in handy. Did some quick tests on arrival and it seem to be performing as advertised. Price was very reasonable as well.

My goal was to make a coffin door (Halloween prop) open when a photosensor closed a circuit. I didn't quite reach my goal this year, but I did spend enough time with this actuator to get a good sense of its capabilities and limitations. The 2" throw is fairly short, but with the included brackets it was possible to arrange it as a hinge in a way that could fully open a door. The ~13lb limit was somewhat of an issue in my application, though it seems like this actuator can actually push a bit more than this, perhaps up to 20lbs. But the amount of force required to open a door can be a much more than the weight of the door, depending on how you mount it. Keep this in mind for your application, and opt for a larger actuator if needed.I did not use the included toggle switch other than briefly testing it, where it worked fine. The actuator moves somewhat slower than I was hoping for, at about 3 seconds for the 50mm/2" version. That is very close to what the specs state in the product description though, so I can't fault the product for that. There is a slight motor whine as the actuator moves. It's not very loud, but it's noticeable. If your application requires absolute silence, this may be an issue for you.4.5/5 stars. I'm happy with the actuator, even though I wasn't able to quite use it in the way I had hoped. It does everything it claims to in the product description, and it may actually be capable of a bit more weight than the stated 13lbs. Overall I'm happy with what I got for the price (around $30).

This performs well for small projects. It operates smoothly, has reliable limit switches, and delivers the advertised speed and force. The included mounting hardware is useful, and it works well with my ESP32 and Arduino (if you know what you're doing or spend some time researching. Instructions aren't included). However, in my experience, the toggle switch is a bit unreliable and prone to sticking. The plastic parts may not hold up to heavy use, but for lightweight tasks, it’s a solid option if you’re willing to replace the switch.

I've been automating my greenhouse with some small solar-powered microcontrollers, with a solar-charged 12V battery as a power source. My vent opener failed recently, and I am taking the opportunity to level it up - this linear actuator ties in very nicely with the 12V battery and ESP32 microcontroller via a relay and H-bridge, allowing me to control the vent based on temp, humidity, time of day, and other factors. Where the previous vent opener (a stand-alone wax-based automatic) failed after a season, this linear actuator provides significantly more lifting power, and should be operating at far under its design limit. Functionally, the actuator is relatively quiet, has sufficient throw to open the vent fully, can be run directly from the 12V battery, is mechanically robust, and is internally limited to avoid excess motion. This actuator was also considerably less expensive than some I had been previously considering, but I'm very happy with the result.
