It may seem odd to be picky about a three-ring binder, but I have used dozens of them over the years, in my employment and at home, and I'm familiar with the major brands and all their possible pitfalls. I ordered this one to keep my home documents in (within plastic sleeves, ordered separately), so I was focused on sturdiness, capacity, and good ring closure. This binder checks all the boxes. I ordered the three-inch spine, which is adequately roomy for my needs. The covering is made of some durable material that hasn't ripped yet, and I don't think it's going to. The rings are my favorite D-shape, with an easy tab to open and close them. That's always good because otherwise you risk getting pinched. I ordered the bright red color so I'd be more likely to spot it on the shelf when I need it. All-around good purchase, just exactly as advertised; also well packaged and arrived promptly.

I bought this binder to house annual paperwork because my old one was too small and hard to open and close. This one has plenty of room, functions well and is easy to open and close.

I've used binders of every "make and model" over nearly two decades in all sorts of use settings (college, field-carrying research, business oversight, on the fly data-collecting volunteerism).Fact is, I use binders for just about everything paper oriented -- and I'm hard on binders, always have been. Most alternative brands break apart, or the rings quickly misalign, and then my papers scatter -- defeating the purpose of bothering to hole punch and bind. Not so with Avery! After years of trying to skimp on price through other products (at the cost of functionality and quality), I'm now an Avery loyalist.I've learned the hard way that I can only count on Avery for reliable, solid, long-lasting, consistent quality "heavy duty" products that withstand my tendencies for overstuffing, roughly hauling (hastily cramming into a backpack or tossing onto the car seat), and other sorts of less than gentle handling practices.Frankly, I'm essentially abusive to my Avery binders. I don't have to gingerly do anything with an Avery binder for fear that its contents might suffer. My Avery binders take whatever I dole at them and hold up for the long haul.On a tight budget? You'll spend more in the end if you by cheaper binders with covers that quickly crease or rings that misalign from the start and dump your papers. Truly, hold out for Avery Heavy Duty binders, and buy them one at a time as you can -- or look for multi-pack purchases through Amazon or other online discount suppliers. Then, recycle them. The heavy duty binders last for years. Also, go for D-links. They hold MUCH MORE paper than regular binders.

I ordered these because I was dissatisfied with similar binders I purchased at Office Max, on which the plastic covers had bubbled and which were MUCH more expensive. For the price, the quality is great. We need the D-ring for ease in moving through a large document in the binder, and the D-ring construction seems to be comparable to every other heavy-duty D-ring binder out there. The binder cover and construction are also comparable to the heavy-duty binders I purchased at Office Max for several times the cost of these. Best of all, there is no bubbling in the plastic covers. One of the binders I ordered had only a couple of black ink spots, but the other had LOTS. Though I tried to wash the spots off, some of them would not wash away. That is the sole reason for my down-rating these binders.
