I bought this set to remove the passenger side o2 sensor on a 1994 Ford Ranger 4.0 l v6. This sensor can be removed by working under the truck, but there is very little room to maneuver. The 7/8" Extension Socket (ES) in the set was of no use because the interior is partially narrowed, preventing a fit to the large body OEM Bosch sensor. I had to use the HB freight ES with a hose clamp on one end and an open-ended wrench on the other just to loosen the sensor. However, the set came in handy as it contains an offset Socket with 3/8" drive which, along with a 12" racheting breaker bar, worked better than expected in removing the sensor from the exhaust pipe. If you don't have PB blaster, a combo of nail polish remover (or acetone) and cutting oil brushed around the threaded area is incredibly effective in the loosening stage.

I ordered this kit for an O2 sensor replacement on a 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid, and ordered the Bosch 15717 downstream sensor pictured. However, I had not as yet removed the original for a comparison with the Amazon illustration. The slotted socket served its purpose to remove both the original upstream and downstream units, with the help of a breaker bar and a bit of elbow grease. It fit correctly over the Bosch 17475 replacement upstream sensor, but the 15717 proved too long to fit the socket over. I'm frustrated that the there doesn't appear to be a consistent standard form factor, or that the information for the correct replacement was inconsistent. In the end, both sensors did fit and performed well, though you'd be well advised to have a sturdy 7/8" box end wrench ready, just in case!

I just used this set to replace all 4 oxygen sensors. The socket was sturdy and withstood extreme force as I used a breaker bar and arm extender bar to remove the upstream right sensor. It broke free, and I was able to remove the sensor. As this is common in the Midwest when removing anything that is exposed to the elements; I can say I have used other oxygen sensor tools that expand, break and round off the sensor or the socket. This set worked well without issue. The down side to the set in this particular case was when I had to use the thread chaser to repair the threads for the new sensor. The thread chaser failed to repair the thread. And failed to adequately cut through the corrosion at all. After further inspection it appears not to specifically be designed to recut a thread as much as it clears out minimal damage and corrosion. The thread chaser only had an issue with the upstream right. I finished the job with tap and die set.Overall the offsets were perfect for the downstream sensors and for tightening. All other sensors were replaced with ease.

A must have to removing O2 sensors, especially lower ones. Perfect to allow easy breaking loose of sensor from pipe. Had no other tool in shop that could have fit the space and allow torque needed r to break free.

This tool is a must have in your tool box if you ever plan on changing a 02 sensor. Often hidden in hard to get to locations along with little room to remove, this tool will do the job. Great quality at any price .
