This item was defective. The hose that came with it was kinked and it wouldn’t let the water flow.

I recently purchased this self-watering Christmas tree system that uses the natural principles of water pressure and siphoning to keep your tree hydrated, and I am thoroughly impressed. This device is a game-changer for anyone who loves a live tree but hates the daily hassle of crouching under it to top up the water. The DesignThe setup is simple yet effective: one hose connects to a reservoir of water (e.g., a bucket or jug), while the other goes into the Christmas tree stand. It works by creating a siphon effect, automatically refilling the stand as the water level drops. No batteries, no pumps, just physics at its best. How It WorksThe key to success is understanding how siphoning and water pressure work:Proper Setup: Ensure the water reservoir is higher than the base of the tree. Gravity does the heavy lifting here.Priming the Hose: Like any siphon system, you must prime the hose (fill it with water) to start the flow. Once primed, it works flawlessly, topping up the tree stand without intervention.Stable Pressure: Keep the reservoir steady and refill it when needed. The system automatically stops once the tree's water level matches the reservoir's outlet height.User Feedback MisconceptionsSome reviewers have complained that "the water doesn't come out." Having read their comments, it's clear that the issue lies in user error, not the product:If the reservoir is too low, water cannot flow uphill (a fundamental law of physics).Failing to prime the hose properly results in air bubbles that interrupt the siphon. To those users: follow the simple instructions! Once you understand the basics of siphoning, this device is foolproof.ProsEffortless Hydration: Once set up, it works like magic, keeping your tree healthy and reducing needle drop.Eco-Friendly: No electricity or gadgets—just basic physics.Mess-Free: No spilling water while trying to refill the stand manually.ConsLearning Curve: If you're unfamiliar with siphoning, the setup might be confusing at first.Height Dependence: The system relies on the reservoir being higher than the tree base.Final ThoughtsThis self-watering device is brilliant if you set it up correctly. It takes the guesswork and hassle out of maintaining a live tree, leaving you to enjoy the holidays without worrying about a dry, brittle fire hazard in your living room. Don’t let the negative reviews scare you off—they're from people who haven’t grasped the physics behind it. For those who follow the instructions, this system is a holiday lifesaver. Highly recommended!

My husband, son and I all tried to make this work, and we were unsuccessful.

The hose comes out the top of this box, not the bottom, so it’s pretty much impossible to get water to flow. The squeeze bulb doesn’t have a one way valve so it sucks water out of your tree stand lol. Don’t waste your money.
