This is much better and super easy to install. Cheaper than the 3mm one and just as strong. After installing it, it was very nice and had no movement while driving or vibrations or noise. Looks great.

I installed it tonight. At first, I was having trouble with the hood being hard to close. But then I reviewed the...reviews here. And realized that I forgot an important element of the install. If you've read the reviews here you might have run across the idea of installing the big shield tabs BEHIND the gasket. That is, the ticket. I missed that in the directions...they were not super clear, and the illustration is super small.Anyway, I initially removed the plastic gasket pins, and then installed right over the gasket. It totally worked. And yes...the hood was hard to close. So then I read a couple more reviews....saw a video, and realized that the tabs on the bug shield are suppose to be BEHIND the rubber gasket, right up against the steel of the hood. Then the gasket slips over that tab, and the washer and screw secure it together.And...voila. The hood closes perfectly. Perhaps a slight bit harder than without the shield. But not nearly as hard as when I had it installed with the tabs in FRONT of the gasket. This was no good.Behind the gasket all the way. Super easy. Just as easy to install as I did the first time, but with much better results. I feel like a ding dong that I missed that point in the instructions. I will chalk it up to...unclear instructions, and...I had a few beers before installing ;)

I have had weather Tek on another car that I sold that was a 2001 and its still on the that car. This is a flat pc of cheap plastic w/limited adhesive. it serves no purpose . The other brand (WT) I had deflected rocks and debris from windshield , this one was flush and really served no purpose.Very disappointed. broke while on highway, Dangerous!!..When it broke it took a little chunk of paint. I will definitely not be giving good reviews for this ripoff. Not really sure why I gave 1 star,,Oh that was on easy to install. Very unhappy customer

It fits fine on my 2011 Ford Explorer. Looks pretty good and is overall a good buy. The one issue I had was during installation. In the directions it states to be sure you do not overtighten the screws. In order to get the hood to close you have to make sure it’s very tight. Even then I do have to slam the hood pretty hard. Other than that it’s a good product

I just installed my AVS bug deflector on my 2015 Ford Explorer.I like many have some paint bubbles starting on the hood that Ford does not want to make good on so after doing some touch up paint and then applying a good coat of wax to the hood edge I went to work. All in all, not a bad experience! The deflector came in a box in another box and both boxes looked like they fell off the truck going 90 mph so I was apprehensive that it would be intact. To my surprise it was intact and the parts bag was there as well.I read the instructions and went to work.I would suggest pin removal tool to remove the plastic pins in the part that sits against the metal hood.Once I removed the pins and confirmed the holes were going to match up I went to work installing the bolts to secure the deflector.Once installed the instructions say to turn the hood bumpers up 1.5 times counter clockwise.I tried to close the hood and it would not.I then lowered the hood bumpers and the hood closes like it did before I installed the deflector.I did lower the hood bumpers about a half turn lower than they were prior to installing.I read several posts about the hood not closing and I suspect that due to the instructions being off the hood would not close because it did not for me until I turned them the opposite direction. It took about 15-20 minutes tops to install and that was due to the hood bumpers.I have AVS window vents on my Explorer so everything matches very well!Time will tell if this holds up but, it looks good on the vehicle.

My 2013 Explorer had paint peeling off the aluminum hood edge (like many others) - thanks Ford! Rather than repaint the hood, I fixed the peeling spots with touch up paint, and applied this hood protector. If you follow the instructions carefully, the application took me less than 30 minutes. The dark smoke protector on my black car looks like it was factory installed and actually enhances the look of the car. Problem solved for less than $100, and actually offers additional protection from stone chips and bugs. Did it 2 months ago. Time will tell if the 3M adhesive holds. Use the alcohol prep!

Very sharp looking. It actually wasn't very hard at all to install. The worst part was actually lining it up so it was even on the hood on both sides. Perhaps the manufacturer could Mark it somehow to align it easier. The product itself fits perfectly flush against the hood of my wife's Ford Explorer and looks sharp ! It is held in place with 3M tape so no permanent holes need to be drilled and the item can be removed from the hood if need be with no lasting signs it was ever installed yet I'm familiar with the type of 3M taped used and it will hold the product securely for the life of the deflector. I'm happy enough with this product that I am going to order an exact one for my Dodge truck also.
