For the price point you can’t go wrong. Bought them for kayaking (as per transport Canada’s boating regulations). The clip on the back may be a little flimsy but that’s probably why there is a backup lanyard

Very good product. I gave it a hard blow and my ears were ringing for a while. I keep 2 in my truck for hiking in bear country. I believe this would be quite helpful as a defense tool also.

I want my grandsons to be able to get my attention (and visa-versa) in the forest.These do the job elegantly;easy to find in most surroundings, easy to keep close (hang it from the lanyard or clip it to your clothes), light and small enough for ultimate convenience, cheap enough to share with friends and to replace when lost, and loud enough to signal even at a distance.A near perfect tool.

these whistles are a great price saver! they woirk as advertised and are super loud. I put one on all of my life vests and they hold up well!!!

I lead a bunch of Cub Scouts and they all need to carry the "six essentials" (water bottle, whistle, first aid kit, etc.) when on hikes or other activities. Several scouts had existing whistles with peas, but they weren't particularly loud and were little better than toys. Others didn't have whistles at all, so I ordered a bunch of these (the price for a 10-pack is very reasonable!) to hand out to them all.They're reasonably priced, durable, have no moving parts or pea, are easy to keep in a backpack or in a pocket, and are intensely loud and piercing when blown sufficiently hard. If blown more gently, they make a medium-volume "peep" sound, but if blown harder they're painfully loud. They're perfect for a lost scout to blow on to attract attention.The scouts were all super happy to get whistles, but the parents giving me a look which can only be described as "the burning hatred of ten thousand desert suns". That's when I knew I made the right choice. I apologize for nothing.

This whistle is extremely loud. It is alarming and will have your head vibrating. If I'm honest it was so loud it made me feel nauseous.This is great for an emergency, because you'll definitely be heard.The downside is that it takes quite a bit of power to blow the whistle. So if you're in an emergency and your breathing is not good, you may not be able to sound/signal this whistle.

I wanted to put whistles in all my vehicles, backpacks, every day carry, and other locations. If you’re trapped or you need help your voice will wear out very quickly but a good whistle can be heard a long distance away and does not take a lot of effort. Great value and clips on a life jacket. The only reason I bought these is because they had good reviews and mostly they have a clip on.I tested these on a phone DB app and they came in a little lower than I hoped.Blowing with light effort: 99 decibels on 9 of 10 whistles (one came in at 96)Blowing with good effort: 103 decibels on 9 of 10 whistles (one came in at 97-100 it kind of warbled)Blowing as hard as I could (I would not recommend this floating in water for your life as you could get light headed and pass out): 107-113 decibals on 9 out of 10 whistles (one came in at 103-106)With a deep breath and good effort these whistles seem to be about 100 decibals. The frequency they sound in is mostly 3000-4000HZ which is perfect for human ears. This is the frequency you want in an emergency whistle. I think the reason so many people reviewed "very loud" is due to the frequency and not the decibal number.Overall for the price I think they are 5 stars but could be louder as it is an emergency whistle. I feel these are a value addition to all your boats life jackets and will offer a huge benefit in an emergency for someone to hear and find you. Esspecially in waves.Now the harsh facts: Some states have laws that @50ft Boats can not be louder than 86 decibals. A boat at full throttle would have a hard time hearing this whistle (it would be even louder on board). But to be fair the test results of over 30 whistles only a few will at 50 ft would. Out of these few they tested about 90DB. Only 2 whistles on the market will really break over the 90DB range over 50ft which is what you would need to possibly ensure you get the attention of a passing boat at full throttle. These whistles come in at about $10-$20 each and to me an important fact they do not have a clip for a life jacket. Unless your Life Jacket has a pocket I would not wear a whistle around my neck during water sports or on a boat. I do not want to be strangled in an emergency situation.So Conclusion:Amazing whistle for the price and could easily help save someones life. Very few clip on to a life jacket and the only one that does that beats out this decibal test cost about $4-$7 each as opposed to this one at about $0.70 each when buying x10. Tie these to all your vests and clip them on to a strap or in a pocket. But be mindfull where you tie them as a string/rope on your life jacket is a hazzard for sure. Tell all your passengers about them and you will have an amazing emergency addition to your gear for the price.If money is no object, buy life jackets with pockets and get one of the 2 highest rated whistles on the market. Don't be a fool these do not compare. But wearing them around your neck is asking for injury or death in an emergency. Tieing a string to your life jacket is a hazzard so be thoughtful where you tie these.
