I thought it would be easier to push because of the large rubber tires, the exact opposite is true. It's hard to move those tires through 4" grass. Seems it would be best on puttng greens or very low cut lawms. Otherwise, the thing is a beast. I'm sure it will last for years to come. Very solidly built.

This spreader is very poor quality!! I have had this spreader for only 1 year (2nd spring season) and it is impossible to push due to a wonky wheel and missing cotter pin that the spreader arrived with. I was in desperate need so tried to make it work but have decided to buy something else as this thing just does NOT work!! What a shame - at $175 it should work much better than this!! Don't waste your money on this!!

Bought November ‘22. Used for fall and spring ‘23. Then! By fall of ‘23 the entire inside mechanism is rusted! Would not work. Poor materials. Yes. I’m in Florida. Speeder was stored inside. Dry garage. Obviously poor metal as it literally disintegrated as I inspected it, of course after I filled the hopper with fertilizer - oh! Milagronite. Nothing special. Then it all proceeded to spill out. I can control open close. But no agitator or whatever you call the rusted piece deep in the hopper that’s supposed to mix or break up clumps and aid in dropping.I’m hoping I can find parts. I’m sure they will be as costly as entire thing.

I bought this spreader because I wanted to top dress my lawn with sand after having it aerated. It arrived yesterday and it took about 25 minutes to put it together. I filled it with 50 lbs of sand, I bought a bag to try out the spreader. It worked well. I will need to open the gate wide open to get the flow I want. However worked fine with sand at any setting. I noticed another review mentioned a missing cotter pin on one wheel. It appears that is by design. Both wheels aren't needed to drive the auger. By only having the right wheel drive the auger, it doesn't turn when you make turns to your right, you don't have to close the gate or drop product while turning.Using a 10mm socket speeds up assembly. It appears to be well build, solid, and should work for years.

The spreader came with easy to understand instructions and all hardware clearly marked. It took about 15 minutes to assemble. I am very happy with how the spreader works with one minor flaw. I used the spreader with grass seed and pelletized lime. The only flaw I see is when starting up, the product drops rather heavily at the starting location. Other than that, I am very happy with the spreader.

This drop spreader is well-built and works great. Heavy duty is an over-used phrase these days, but this spreader is indeed heavy-duty. The only plastic is the hopper. The instructions could have been a little clearer. One plus is the parts were in a blister card separated to match the steps. Just push out what is called for. One thing to note is the supplied wrench states it is 11 mm on one end and 13 mm on the other. It is actually 10 and 12. You only need the 10 mm to put together the spread. I recommend using a full-size wrench (10 mm). It took my wife and I about an hour and a half to assemble, but I feel a handier person(s) could do it in less than an hour.
