About this item

  • This variable polarizing filter has a Aluminium material mount, which is sturdy and durable.
  • It helps you to adjust the brightness effectively. The variable polarizing filter allows for selective adjustment of brightness, which is useful for terrestrial observation.
  • These filters have a very large range of effectiveness. Light transmission of polarizing filters is between 1% and 40%.
  • Variable polarizing filters are made up of two individual filters. The variable darkening effect is produced by rotating the lower filter relative to the upper one. And it reduces glare for improved perception of detail and for better viewing comfort.
  • Fit all 1.25" eyepieces with the standard filter thread.

Dual polarized filters allows adjustment of brightness of moon or other objects. Fine quality. Can be used on end of eyepiece or diagonal. Eyepiece may set up higher due to extra added length.

The main reason I purchased this filter is it’s ability to separate into two parts. I’m able to attach one piece to my 2-inch barlow lens and the other to the eyepiece . This way I don’t have to remove the eyepiece to adjust the amount of filtering, I just need to turn the eyepiece. This works well for telescopes that use a diagonal too. I like using these filters for observing the Moon, and the brighter planets like Venus and Jupiter. It appears to be made well. No issues attaching the filter to the barlow or eyepiece. The only complaint I have is, I did have to clean the filter. There was a smudge on the glass and some particles that had to be blown off. I also had to clean out the storage case to remove some small particles. All is good though and I do recommend it.

A variable polarizer is what you need to view details on the moon, and this one works perfectly at a great price. Highly recommended.

Price point and delivery incredible. This handy filter makes such an amazing difference in being able to control the amount of light entering the telescope with just a simple twist of the filter. Allows great detail in objects you are viewing. The filter is very well built and I absolutely recommend this little beauty as a must have in your filter collection.

has 2 polarized layers. one screws into your eyepiece and the other is attached and you rotate it to vary the darkness of the filter. The part that rotates spins almost too freely. I wish it had just a little resistance so I could be sure it stays where I put it. Also, I wish there were index marks around the edges where the 2 layers meet to show where the darkest and lightest alignment would be and a few marks in between so you know how far you've turned it. The way it is now you have to take out the eyepiece, give the filter a little twist, put it back and hope you didn't make it too dark or too light.

Fits into regular 1.25" eyepiece with standard filter threads. Works as expected - using it as a moon filter / dimming filter for planetary observation with my 4" Maksutov scope.

I purchased this filter to use on my Celestron 9.25" telescope for viewing the moon. The idea of having a variable polarizing filter is great and this filter works very well. On a full moon, the filter can be adjusted to make the viewing very comfortable - it's nice to be able to look at the entire moon without being blinded! With different phases of the moon the filter can easily be adjusted to provide just the right combination of detail and comfort. I am very impressed.
