--Astromania 2" filter wheel - change your filter in seconds - space for up to 5
This 2" filter wheel lets you use up to 5 different filters and changes them within just a few seconds. Whether for astrophotography or visual observing - your filters are always ready to use. Use the filter wheel with UHC, OII, CLS or wide-band and narrow-band filters for visual observing, for example - which let you quickly and easily find the best filter when visually observing. You can also leave your filters mounted in the filter wheel, as they are optimally protected from dust and damage there.
Part List and Care/Storage:
Feel free to leave your 2" filters installed in the wheel during storage. To avoid excessive dust build up, attach the dust caps prior to storing, and use a foam-lined accessory case. The foam-lined box your Multiple Filter Wheel arrives in also acts as a convenient storage container.

Two ways to connect telescope:

Simply rotate to change filter
Imagine you have a camera mounted on the telescope and have to switch between different filters and quickly as possible. This is only possible using a filter wheel. A handy rotary wheel offers you incredibly fast switching between up to 5 different filters. Each filter position is designated by a number, which lets you know which filter is currently in the beam path.

Attaching an Eyepiece:
For visual use, you will need to attach the camera adapter and 2" eyepiece adapter to the Multiple Filter Wheel. To do this, thread the two adapters onto the back plate of the wheel assembly. Once the adapters are completely attached, unscrew the knurled thumbscrew until it is flush with the inside surface of the adapter and insert a 2" eyepiece. Secure the eyepiece by tightening the thumbscrew.
Attaching a Digital Imager:
If you are using a digital imager that features T-threads, you can attach it to the Multiple Filter Wheel. If your digital imager has a 1.25" nosepiece, remove it to expose the T-threads. Now simply thread the imager onto the camera adapter via a "M48x0.75 (2" Filter) Female to M42*0.75 T / T2 Male Thread Telescope Adapter" (Not Included), and then thread the adapter onto the rear plate of the filter wheel assembly. You can lock your camera or digital imager in a preferred position by using the camera adapter's locking ring. Once you have positioned your camera or imager, rotate the knurled locking ring counter clockwise until it locks the camera or imager into place.
Attaching a Camera:
The Multiple Filter Wheel can be extremely useful for astro-imaging with a camera body, be it a SLR camera, CCD, or CMOS device. To attach a SLR camera to the filter wheel, use the included camera adapter, an optional T-ring for your SLR model and a "M48x0.75 (2" Filter) Female to M42*0.75 T / T2 Male Thread Telescope Adapter" (Not Included). Attach the side of the camera adapter without the knurled lock ring to the rear plate of the wheel assembly by rotating it clockwise until tight. Now thread your SLR camera T-ring onto the exposed T threads.

First shipment had issues with knicks in the metal and chips in the paint so it was returned/replaced with another one. Second one came in much better condition. It is very nicely manufactured and finished. I have average sized hands for a guy and I was unable to install filters without taking it apart. When doing so there are tiny parts you need to keep close track of, or your filter wheel will not be like new ever again. I also thought it was a bit on the heavy side and a definite increase in load to your telescope mount i.e. make sure your mount can handle the total weight. Because of the hassle to install/remove filters I ended up sending it back for a refund.

One of the 5 locations had an issue with the threads. Luckily I had a filter I don't care much about, so I forced that one into it first to correct the threads so I wouldn't damage one of my more expensive filters. Have to take a star off for that, potential to cause damage to one of your other pieces of equipment is a big deal. Also the opening where the wheel sticks through so you can change positions - is gaping! I can't image any scenario other than pitch black where stray light doesn't leak in through there. The slot is way wider than it needs to be. It's solid metal, so it's heavy, but sturdy. Movement is smooth, but be careful if you disassemble as there are spring loaded balls (detents) that give it a nice "clicky" movement between positions. The balls and the springs can go flying if you're not careful. I keep a gallon plastic bag over it when not in use to keep dust from entering the grand canyon on the side of this thing and getting into my filters and optic train, and a black t-shirt over it when imaging to keep stray light out. I'm sure you probably don't get these concerns when you pay $500 for a high end electronic one, but I'm on a budget so I appreciate that us folks have options too. I'll actually use my filters now that it's easy to switch between them. The included adapters can be configured to use this in several ways but that also means you could wind up using your filters backwards. That is okay for some filters, but not all. Overall I'm quite satisfied.

Very easy to use and rotates very smoothly. It has spring loaded ball bearings inside that register into little divots giving a snapping feeling so that you know that the wheel is in the right place. It's made of metal and plastic so it's slightly lighter than other filter wheels that are entirely made of metal, but still very sturdy. I haven't had a problem with light leaking in through the side opening and I imagine that it would only be an issue if you were shining a bright flashlight directly into it. It's a bit difficult to thread in the filters without opening the filter wheel so if you do open it be very careful to not lose the little ball bearings or springs. It's probably best to do it over a bowl because they will come falling out.

Unlike the reviews, the Q/A's can be about any of the products and there is no way to tell which one people are taking about unless they specify. Amazon, please improve the tagging in your Q/A section so we can tell which product people are talking about.This model has T2 female mount (42mm x 0.75mm pitch) both in and out. The 'camera adapter' is T2 Male to T2 male, with a T2 female jam ring so that the position angle of the attached device can be set. The included nose-piece adapter is T2 male to 1.25" maleThe Hex wrench that was included in my package did not fit the fasteners to open it up. It was much too small.It's well made and sturdy. The quality of the threads is good and there's not any slop or binding when screwing things in and out. It will add significantly to the weight on your focuser so be sure your focuser is up to the task.As advertised, i don't see any light leakage. There is no appreciable flexionThe wheel moves precisely, and the position indents do their job commendably well. It will be easy to feel when you're at an indent even if you have gloves on.Unless you have a special tool, or unless you have small fingers and are exceptionally dexterous, it will be necessary to disassemble it in order to install the filters safely.
