For a good long time I suffered with a cheap air hammer from princess auto. I finally decided to get this beast when my old one wouldn't do the job anymore. When I first used it, I was so disappointed because it felt very weak. If you read the instructions it tells you that it doesn't give you the grunt until it been cycled about 8 times. It for sure has some grunt to it now. I even used it to help chip my concrete floor when installing my lift. Astro air tools never disappoint and this is no exception. It's not the big nasty version, but it for sure deserves the name Thor

I received my first one and it looked good! I hooked it up for the first time and absolutely NO power. I ran that thing as hard as possible and it wouldn’t get any better. I returned it and waited a week to receive this new one. Let me tell you, this thing has POWER. I was debating getting this Astro Pnuematic or the Snap On and I figured for the price and TTC, South Main Auto’s video on it I would give this one a try. NO REGRETS. I would put this up there next to or ABOVE Snap On or Matco ANYDAY! If you need a powerful air hammer but don’t want to step up to Big Nasty’s .498 shank size. THIS is the one.

It worked well for a month or a little longer then stopped working despite oiling daily and light use. Contact manufacturer and send it back to get an estimate of two months to get it repaired and ship it back. Definitely not recommended.

At the comparing the matco and the snap on and hammers it feels like it on par of power without paying those prices. Already moved several CV axle that seems stuck thought I wasn't going to get them out with air hammer this one did it.

Had to get an air hammer to remove sway bar bushings from the control arms on a '95 Econoline, this thing was almost too powerful! Thankfully after I got the hang of the trigger, you can really dial in how much power you need, from light taps to total destruction. The quality and performance are great for the price.

After doing some research about this air hammer and finding out it does alot of good for the money I was excited to get mine in when they became available again, I knew it was going to be a longer then average air hammer but I was completely fine with that, after first getting it and put trying it out, the trigger was alot less friendly then what I'd imagine, it was very stiff and was difficult to "throttle" back the power of the hammer, that was kinda a disappointment but there is more. I only tried it out for 5 minutes before going home for the day, I didn't use it till the following week when I needed it to remove a steering cylinder, I grabbed my air hmer and tried plugging in the air and it was immediately full throttle when I plugged in the air hose (yes my hand was off the trigger) I ended up having to take it apart and the valve for the trigger got pushed out of its slot and all of the air was being rushed into the tool with no limit. I was able to fix it but the spring was messed up so I don't know how long this fix will last, I haven't used it since but I was just hoping this air hammer would have been a good value from a brand I heard alot of good things from and would try out.

I own three other air hammers but this one is in another realm ! It is named Thor and I think it actually came from Asgard it is so powerful. Best buy ever from Amazon , hats off to Astro tools USA you knocked it out of the park with this beast! Thankyou.

Little Big Nasty is finally HERE!!! I don't live in the rust belt so Big Nasty is just to much air hammer. Plus 401 bits are easier to find. The trigger control was also a nice touch since big nasty was on or off.When I finally give this a shake down I'll update this review but it just feels so nice in the hand AND includes a quick change bit. I think astro hit a home run with this tool.EDIT Oct 22 - Finally gotta use this monster and she got a punch. Little big nasty lives up to the Thor name and Big Bro.

If you have ever had a stuck fastener or pin that you needed to drive out or needed to cut through some metal and didn't have room to swing a big hammer or maybe you didn't want to beat on it for 30 minutes or more. That's when you need an air hammer like this. It hits hard, like the big boys on the tool trucks, but at less than a quarter of the cost. It hit harder than the harbor freight chief (ok not a huge deal untill you factor in that it costs less than the chief does) one note is that you need to run it for a little bit and break it in before you will get all of the power out of it. This is an amazing tool and when I got it they were selling at great prices compaired to all of the competition in this class. I would recommend this air hammer to professional and home mechanics.

Anything Astro makes with the Thor designation is worth the money IMO. If you work on rusty junk, this is the air hammer you need. This unit has good trigger control for when you just need to convince something, not destroy it. It drove a hub bearing assembly out of an aluminum knuckle in a matter of seconds. It rattled GM caliper slide pins out of the bracket. It knocked two rotors loose from the hub like nothing at all. This has two big brothers known as the 4980 and 498k. Those are super duty air hammers, but they're almost too powerful (and pricey) for what i need to do. This is a great compromise for power and affordability. The .401 sized chisels are also much easier to find and cost way less than the .498 hammers.
