I am a novice watercolor. I enjoy using this paper and find it improves my skills. Great size for an afternoon painting project.

These are okay for multimedia purposes. The paper works fine for some watercolor, but it isn't the best. There is a textured side (primary side) and a smooth side (backside). The textured side has grid-like divots, so granulating pigments will definitely expose the pattern of the paper more. The smooth side is similar to what one might expect with hot press paper and would be better suited for detailed pieces. The thickness of the paper is adequate for wet applications, though I would suggest not going too wet. With a lighter application of water, I did not get too much buckling, which was appreciated.I am not sure about the sizing. The watercolor paint did blend somewhat on the paper. Lifting resulted in some spots that pilled. I would advise not to scrub, just dab ever so lightly. I would not layer too much as the peice might get "muddy". Also be careful with tape or masking fluid. I used low adhesion washi tape and the paper tore. Now although this isn't perfect, I do like the spiral binding and the perforated margins. The price is right if you need something less expensive/precious to play with or for travel. I can see this being great for quick sketches and dabbing in some paint. If you are seriously getting into watercolor just remember the paper is super important. This paper may not give you the results you dream of, but it is good for practicing strokes, playing with colors, swatching, doodling, etc.

These are great notebooks for painting. I use it as a painting journal. It is not the paper I would use to put my fine art on. It buckles a little bit but it gets the job done.

I like this water color paper. It’s a good weight for drawing with water color pencil and paint. Small but gets the job done if you like sketching art in a journal.

Nice weight on the paper and the spiral bound makes all the difference in letting the book stay open while you are working. Depending on your preference this book makes it easy to either keep all the artwork together in the book or to remove with the perforated edge. The paper has a consistent color and texture which makes it easier to blend as well as predict how the medium will act or react.Very happy with the books so far.

A combination of being spiral bound for ease of use and great flow of color on the paper make these really nice to use. The flow works perfectly for blending colors and getting what you are looking for.

I am very much a self-taught, beginner at using watercolors. I ordered this paper to have something to practice with as I was going through a lot of full size sheets. Being spiral bound books, I knew this would allow me to take my paints with me and easily contain everything. So far, they work well for my practice and learning how to work with watercolor paints. I think this would be good for making color swatches, practicing strokes, and maybe even making cards. The front side is texture and the back is more smooth. Some say that high quality cold pressed cotton paper makes a big difference. I think I am not to that level in my watercolor journey to know the difference. With that said, I am giving the best review I can for what I have done with this paper.

I did the watercolor "sunflower" test on the paper and it passed. The paper held the water on the surface just right, and the color flowed the way it should. It stayed wet long enough to permit wet on wet mixing, but didn't become soggy. Paint flowed where the water went and not beyond.Pencil was easy to draw with, outlining marker did not bleed, and marks erased cleanly without damaging the paper. The texture of the paper is a little rough, and the packaging was so tight that a very small corner of the book was bent on arrival. The perforation is a little further away from the spiral binding than expected, making the whole page feel a little smaller, but there are no "major" complaints. All in all, I suggest this paper for watercolor paints.
