An adorable little sketchbook, very satisfying to hold, slightly wider than the standard pocket-size notebook, with the brand name printed on the front in the lower left corner. (If you're giving this as a gift, note that the belly band calls this a "Useless & Poems Doodle Book" which I thought was hilarious, but you could always take it off if you think the recipient might not find it as amusing.)Inside, the blank paper feels like a lightweight cardstock, pretty smooth but still takes pencil and pen okay, and it holds up well to water-based markers with only a slight bit of ghosting on the darkest colors. (You might be able to get away with some minimal dry-brush watercolor, but I don't think big washes would do well.)The elastic strap is tight enough to stay out of the way on the inside back cover when not being used. The "pocket" is just a simple corner flap, fine for, say, tucking a business card into, or a small sheet of stickers or the like.Overall, a nice choice for a portable little book to draw or write in.

I like the size of this notebook very much, and it has a good number of pages. The smooth, cream-colored paper has a nice weight to it and is thick enough to avoid ghosting. My ballpoint and pigma micron pens do not bleed through (but I wouldn't expect them to).The book is made with sewn-in signatures, and opens to lie flat. I can see there were some shortcuts taken with the hardcover case construction, in that the book doesn't have those grooves in the cover near the spine, and the spine part of the cover is extremely soft and flexible. I fear that the failure point of this book is that the endpapers holding the book together will tear and allow the block to separate from the cover. The back pocket is small and it is flat rather than an accordion. I like the flat style of the pocket, and this one is very well done, but be aware that it will not hold as much as the accordion type. I appreciate the elastic closure, as it will help the book stay in good shape when tossed into a bag or whatever. The ribbon bookmark is a nice feature, too. It appears that the cut edge of it has been treated with fray-stop or some such, and that's another nice touch.

Needed something I could easily carry around at work and jot down notes. This book does the job! Thick cover and unlined pages, just what I needed

I've never heard of this brand before, but am pleasantly surprised by the quality and details they've added to this sketchbook. The size is very portable, without being too tiny and it feels just about right for a single drawing per page. Limitations like this help reinforce creativity, since you really hone in on what you should draw, rather than just trying to quickly fill a large page with doodles.A few of the pros:1. Nice quality cover and pleasant green color2. Page quality is decently thick—thicker than a Moleskine, but not too heavy like watercolor paper3. MOST IMPORTANT—the pages lay flat when the sketchbook is open. This is a requirement for me, especially at smaller sizes. This sketchbook didn't disappoint.4. Includes elastic band, bookmark ribbon, and little back pocket (back pocket is a little smaller than typical...not quite as nice as a Moleskine)

While I thought the little book’s name “Useless & Poems Doodle Book” was odd, at first, I was quite pleased to see that the white piece around the book was, in fact, just packaging and could be removed. And then I found a surprising nugget of wisdom on the back of it.“Writing by hand is thinking on paper. With every stroke of the pen, memories come alive and transform into captivating stories. Ideas, once trapped within our minds, are set free and transformed into tangible projects. Doodling by hand is a powerful tool, connecting our thoughts and allowing us to truly understand ourselves and the world around us.”Those words reminded me of why I started drawing and writing, in the first place. A younger me had a lot of thoughts and emotions, and found that I could understand myself and the world around me better through my drawings and writing, and by proxy, the art and literature created by others. Creativity is a very human experience and something that forges bonds between us that go beyond time and distance. So while I think “Useless & Poems Doodle Book” does sound a touch silly and may be a mistranslation of something like “Useless Poems & Doodles Book” or “Casual Writing & Doodling Book,” I find far more meaning in the title, now. This book is meant to be a space where we are not limited to drawing masterpieces or writing the next chart-topping song or famous novel—it is a place for us to put our thoughts and ideas in a tangible form, be it words or doodles, so that we can set them free and choose where we want to go from there.Reflection on life aside, this is a very nice quality little sketchbook. It’s hardcover, sturdy, manufactured well, and does fold flat without having to crack the spine, due to the way the book is bound. The elastic strap fits snug but does have some give, being elastic, but its elasticity is good quality, as well, so I’m not concerned about it becoming easily stretched out over time as the book is used. The paper itself is smooth but thick! Great for writing and doodling with pen, not just pencil. But I can tell by the texture that, as advertised, any kind of more ‘wet’ medium are not going to settle well. So media like watercolor paints or markers aren’t the right tool for this book. But that’s fine! There are plenty of other tools out there to set one’s imagination free!

I feel like notebooks like this can be pretty hit or miss, but this one is actually really nice. Especially for the price! Certain other brands of notebooks with a similar style are outrageously priced, but I feel this one is fair. The notebook itself feels of good quality and the covers are thick. The blank pages feel nice and satisfying to write on. I love the size of the notebook too. Super easy to carry around with you or even put in your pocket. I definitely recommend for those looking for a little notebook to capture thoughts and ideas while on the go.
