The wooden handle provides a comfortable and convenient tool to apply pressure to the back of inked prints during the process of relief or intaglio printmaking. Applying pressure in this way contacts the ground/paper more thoroughly with the inked surface beneath providing better ink attachment and more consistent results across the printed area.For best results work the Baren in a firm circular motion across ALL areas of the rear of the print applying consistent pressure throughout. Extra care at this stage will help you to render best printed results - any areas left untreated will look light and weak in comparison to those areas where the Baren has been worked.Take care to avoid ink spillages as these will leach on to the felt base for future use. I’m using this baren for stamping with clear stamps and a stamping platform. It works great! It is a little small if compared other stamping press tools, but it is easy to hold and fits well in my smaller hands. I like the wooden handle too. I highly recommend.
