Nice and sturdy but not too heavy.

A necessary part of drawing and sketching. The right size. Fits in the hand well. Easily stored. Very sturdy. Made of quality material.

The board works great. I use the it for my smaller art projects. It’s sturdy, economical, and the hand opening is convenient. I probably should have sealed the surface since the paints tend to stain it, but that’s not a big deal.

I purchased this drawing board to use for watercolor painting. It’s the perfect size. It arrived quickly and is exactly what I was expecting.

I'll fess up: This was an impulse buy on Prime Day. I've got a nice, glass top art desk I use for my art, which includes drawing and painting. As stated in the review title, this board is great if you draw on art paper or basically anything else beyond the common 8.5" x 11" paper or smaller. However, I also airbrush art, and I learned a while ago that the decorative figures and statues that I 3D print can be given a new life with some airbrushed paint. So, a good portion of the time, my nice art desk has a small airbrushing booth on it, and between the booth and airbrushing supplies, I have no room to even put other objects on the desk, let alone work on a drawing or painting! That's where this portable board comes into play. Take right now for instance: I'm using up some old 3D printer filament, so I'm printing more figurines that I hope to paint this weekend. So, my desk is cluttered with an airbrush booth and supplies. But I can still grab a piece of art paper and pencils, pens or both, and this board and still draw. The board is lightweight enough that I can hold it for a few minutes and draw, and large and rigid enough that I can balance it on furniture, so I don't have to hold it for long. Yet, the board doesn't feel so rigid as to be brittle either. The carrying slot is nicer than I reckoned, too! It's a lot easier to haul this board around by using that slot. Also, the clip has ample force to hold a piece of thicker art paper in place for transport. I can wiggle the paper around with vigorous scribbling, such as long shading movement on a drawing, but a few pieces of painter's tape lock the paper down completely, and the tape comes off this board with no residue.I'm still very much an amateur at art- I only do it as an occasional hobby. So, I don't dare paint anything that's being held to this board, lest I ruin its flat surface with blobs of paint, or worse, chip pieces of the drawing surface off trying to remove paint. But again, for being able to doodle and draw with pens or pencils while my art desk is pulling double duty as an airbrushing station, this board is awesome!

Almost bought a larger size but just didn't need that much space to work on. This is a smaller size (13x17) and lightweight, but perfect for toting about or holding on my lap to work. I suppose it could be a little sturdier (some other reviewers received dented or broken boards), but mine is perfect. The clip is both strong and easy to use. I would not get it wet, though! I only use it for sketching.
