These paints are definitely designed for little kids over the age of three. They are brightly colored, not really made for mixing colors because of opacity, but are fun to paint with anyway. The tablets do not all release pigment super easily, however, but all you have to do is add water on top of the paint and let it sit a bit before the painting session. The extra brushes added in the package are variable: some are sturdy and grab the paint such that you can paint easily, and a few are so stiff that they don’t pick up much paint and don’t deliver much to the paper. The large filbert is more appropriate to heavy acrylics. They will all hold up to kids’ use, and with nice wooden handles are much better than the two brushes inside the paint case. In my third photo, the big flat brushes on the left have such stiff bristles that they’re hard to paint with watercolor. Save them for other media. The paper is quite nice for these paints. It didn’t buckle up too badly, and colors remained bright on it. It’s a nice addition to the package. My biggest criticism is for the apparently haphazard choice of colors. It looks like a huge 48 color selection, but many are close to each other in color effect, and there’s only one red, two browns, and one purple. Among others, there are 10 pinks, roughly 9 oranges, 6 blues close in color, 4 yellows, and 9 light greens. There aren’t any really dark colors. And because the paints are opaque, you can’t mix to get more range of colors. The colors aren’t in a standard color order, and not named or numbered, so it’s hard to keep track of which pink you’re using or where the one red is. For a young child, this perhaps isn’t the end of the world, but if your kid wants to paint landscapes, it won’t be easy to get a natural look.

This is a very basic pain set that includes everything that kids may need to make some art. My niece loves making her own artistic masterpieces but can be hard on her supplies or lose them completely. I'm planning to put together a larger gift with several different art supplies so this will add to it while being too expensive. The watercolor pens are what looked the most interesting to me. The products are lower end quality, but the price ($13 USD at the time of this review) does reflect that. Overall, it's an okay set for kids. For older kids, teens or adults I would think something of a little higher quality would be more fitting.

i ordered this 'artistro washable watercolor paint set' and it's 5 stars. this set includes a wide range of beautiful colors, many of which are bright and vibrant. each color is quite pigmented, which provides excellent coverage and intensity. these paints activate quickly with a small amount of water, and the consistency is smooth, which helps with easy application. the paints are washable and easy to clean, making this set great for kids. upon ordering, this kit was priced at around $14, which is a wonderful value at the price point.NOTE: as a privileged member of the vine community, my job is to give unbiased reviews on products. i am required to report the 'retail value' of each and every product i review as income on a 1099 tax form. therefore, i am under NO obligation to rate products higher for any incentive. i am unbiased in my reviews and rate products accordingly. hopefully my reviews will help potential buyers.

Artistro is a reputed name in the art world and all the items I have ever bought from them have been top-notch. This is another such one. I tired my hand at water painting for the first time - and thought this kit was just perfect with ten brushes, a water brush, four dozen colors (although there are many close similars) and ten sheets of paper. I cannot say I have got the hang of the medium but have had fun getting started with the help of a few YouTube videos. The only addition I have made to this set, after I exhausted the original supplies, was a set of water color paper. I also bought myself some more (bigger, broader) water color brushes for doing backgrounds. At around $16 with a 20% discount coupon as of the date of this review, this set is a great deal for an amateur grown-up artist, or a kid.

Artistro has your set for the crafter or developing watercolor talent, or even for younger kid who knows their way around the basic pallette and color wheel. Colors for days in this set. Brushes are the very basic all purpose kind. It has a 10 sheet small pad of 6x8 watercolor paper. The texture is decent. But as a whole, this would be a super gift. I would pick two larger soft brushes for washes to add to this and add a larger watercolor paper pack so the person can really play with all these colors. Great price point for what's here! Gift it!
