Bought this about two weeks ago and I've had it up and running 24/7. Hasn't dropped signal once. Both of my Comcast-issued cable modems had major problems like the 5.0 GHz band inexplicably disappearing until I did a full modem reboot (which usually took up to 10 minutes) and the first one I was issued couldn't even be recognized on the 2.4 GHz band on any of my mobile devices. However this modem is very stable and the dual-band feature works as it should. But the wi-fi signal strength it sends out is poor compared to the admittedly much more expensive Xfinity Arris. I have to have the modem just a few feet away from my desktop PC for the 5.0 GHz band it to get full throughput and the 2.4 GHz band gives me half of what I'm suppose to get on my Performance Internet package from Xfinity (60-70 Mbps) even within 2 feet of my PC. Not the best but at least it's stable in its duel-band wi-fi features. Worth the discounted sale price I paid for it ($60 including taxes). I don't regret buying it because now I can flip Comcast the bird on their ridiculous $11/month modem rental fee.

I bought this to avoid having to pay my cable company 10 dollars a month to rent one. It has well paid for itself. It works excellent and I like the fact that it has two channels so if your cable signal is not coming in strong on one channel you can switch the channel and pick up on the other one. Easy to hook up. Just have to call the cable and take a few minutes to give them the serial number and type so they can put it in the system. I actually have purchase two of them now. I have one in my house in Pa and one in Fl. The best part is the password for the device is right on the back on of the modem so if you ever forget it you can go get it off the back. It is a code of numbers and letters so nobody could ever guess it. Highly recommended! You just have to make sure it is compatible with your cable company before purchasing. I have time warner and comcast and it works on both of them.

This device worked great for about 4 months. Now the wi-fi just stops working at random. Rebooting the modem brings back the Wi-Fi. I think I have had to do this now up to four times a day. Depending on how good technical support is, this may get an updated rating.I called support and got help immediately. I explained what was going on, apparently I should have contacted my ISP first. I guess the ISPs intermittently send updates/reconfigurations to the devices. Support explained it was probably a bad software update and we did a factory reset on the device. Smooth sailing ever since. The only issue I had with support is that their website wouldn't let me register my device, it kept saying my serial number and model number didn't match.

Amendment to Original Review:I hate this thing. It worked great for a couple of days and now keeps dropping the internet. I have to manually keep switching the channel on it to make it connect. Each time it drops I have to reboot my laptop to get it to come up. Thought it was my laptop but it's happening with our iPhones too. This thing is fast when it works but it only works correctly about 1/8th of the time. The rest of the time it stops for no reason and with no warning. I am returning it to Amazon tomorrow and bought a TP brand router/modem bundle. It's not all in one device but I don't really care. This one looked great but didn't work out at all in our house. So much for sleek and streamlined.I bought this against the reviews regarding Comcast. I saw that the Firmware (whatever that is) needed to be updated in some areas. I live in the Houston Burbs so figured I was safe. I was, it booted right up. I had none of the issues some of the other reviewers had.I am not a computer techy but know enough to follow the directions and do a little bit of troubleshooting. My problem was our Apple products. Our laptops would hook to the new router but our iPhones and iPads were having problems. They would connect then break then reconnect over and over. It was so annoying. I did a Google on it and found that the problem might have been because they were set to read the 5.0 whatever instead of the 2.5. I simply turned off the 5.0 and had the phones forget the network. I turned them off and restarted them and they found the 2.5 network and had no problem joining them. Now they don't seem to be having that issue but I've only had this router/modem for a day now. It's much faster than the old mule we were renting from Comcast. The mule was their top of the line fastest they had. We'll be taking it back and using this from now on. It wasn't about the technical aspect of the Comcast box, it was that I was paying for something monthly with the Comcast Blast package and the equipment they gave us wasn't good enough to use it. I'm sure they do that on purpose!!!
