I sprinkled the carpet in one room with this stuff, and lightly scented does not seem accurate to me. It does not leave behind a strong smell, but while it's sitting in your carpet, you can REALLY smell it. Which, for us, is bad because we have one cat who is very sensitive to strong smells/perfumes/scented candles/oils.. basically any fragrance. I bought it with "lightly scented" in mind, thinking it wouldn't have much at all.However, it does seem to have removed the stinky from our carpet and some of our frequently used office chairs (I let the chairs sit overnight in the stuff).We live in a small 700 sq ft apartment. One small room used half a box in my case, and I was not super liberal with it. I would say you'd need a few boxes of it to do an entire regular sized home.Still, unless I find something better, I'll probably end up getting more when we need it.

We purchased our house with red carpet in the basement. Disaster right?Well, we had moisture problems, mice, roaches insects and snakes visit here in the forest of Kemp Mill, Md- home of cheapism for many. Anywho, the carpet always smells. Sure, if i Rug Doctor it, the smell goes away for a few weeks but ultimatelty returns with vengange. I decided to use this instead of straight baking soda which could cause mechanical issues with most vacuum cleaners.The Sodium Bicarbonate in this product is more like sand and not powder. When sprinkling it on the red carpet (Berber-type) the grains find their way to the stinkers within. I let the product sit for 30minutes to an hour for problem areas then SLOWLY vacuum the area numerous times.I will update to see how long before the funk comes back. So far im pleased. The next day our basement smelled like a clean HEPA filter scent.The smell at first may be too strong but after the vacuum process and a few hours its a 180 improvment for sure. I even got down to sniff the carpet-- nothing- no more stink!BTW....Please dont ever install carpet in a basement especially RED...Good Grief

this truly is a great product. I am overly, EXTREMELY SENSITIVE to odors, good or bad. I purchased this product because of new wall to wall carpet gassoff odor(horrible), and it worked! Not only did it rid in 1use of gassoff stank, but absolutely got rid of all allergens. I of course thought, the smell of the carpet powder would kill me as well as odors. TO my surprise this carpet powder is very very light, And does not last . After you wait 15 minutes, vacuum all the grossness OUT of your rug, and voila, all odors too. ARM and HAMMER, the best!!
