I found the magnetic base is much weaker than that of a similar product from a different company.

Works very well can hold all sockets upside-down, just that some sockets are tight in their place.

I bought these to replace the holders that come with my sockets for in my toolbox as well for in my service truck and they work great. None of my sockets have ever come out of the holder why I've drove across field.

I am an aircraft mechanic and as such we have to keep a very close eye on our tool inventory. This is perfect for my needs, I have it for both the 1/4" & 3/8" drive sockets both deep well and shallow.Magnetic base is strong enough to retain the sockets while you have it stuck on your trucks fender, I was working on my truck as well. :-)The compact size is perfect when space is at a premium. The text is nice and clear, so far it has withstood all of the solvents it's been exposed to, including jet fuel.I will be outfitting my home toolbox with these as wellThe picture is my socket drawer before I purchased the 1/4" drive socket holder, the 1/4" sockets are in the Pelican case in the upper right. You can see how little room the 3/8" set takes. I should point out that I don't use metric tools on aircraft.

I am pretty happy about the choice I made after comparing to other products out there that were in similar design and price. the only negative is that the edges could be a little smoother after the molding process but not a big deal just rub with a little sandpaper and its fine. the magnet holds fine and my sockets fit in there correctly. this really made it easier for me to organize my 100's of sockets down to ones id rather use on a daily basis that way I can just store the left overs in a box. I can quickly find a socket i need this way. the magnet is also nice because it sticks in place in the metal drawers. the price ended up being worth it for the time i will probably end up saving and the product quality was good enough. I like the rubber bottom also, just a simple yet well thought out solution.

This thing fits impact sockets. Is a little bigger than the peg style but will definitely last longer

I recently bought a similar organizer (3/8") from a different manufacturer and it's magnets aren't nearly as strong and the socket holes are so deep on the short socket side that you only have about 3/8" protruding to grab them. This brand is much more thought out. The magnet is STRONG and the short sockets protrude plenty to get a grip on them. I don't believe these are meant for impact sockets but my set fits perfectly, I agree that chrome sockets would be a sloppy fit depending on the brand. Cheaper sockets are thicker because of the weaker steel, the manufacturer must take this into consideration when designing these organizers. It turns out to be beneficial for me as I can use it for impact sockets which is what I use most these days. I am very impressed with the strength and quality and will probably buy more for my other sockets.

I needed to rethink my organizational system for my new toolbox. I wanted the ability to pull an entire set of sockets out of the main box and throw them into a service cart to wheel over to the job. This is the 21st century, so crappy old metal rails with spring clips weren't an option. The Hansen style trays are great if you're going to leave them mostly stationary, but they're a little flimsy to stand up to regular movement in and out of a box. Ernst twist-lock rails are pretty good, but the size markings are sorta small and can be hidden. Westling are pretty slick looking, but they really seem to be for users of the type who buy Snap On because they care more about having expensive tools than getting a bargain. For my specific needs and wants, these trays are absolutely perfect. The magnet, which both holds the tray to metal and holds the sockets in the tray, is very strong. (In fact it's so strong that I need to double up the drawer liner in my box in order to make them a little easier to remove.) It's easily strong enough to hold the tray on the side of a box and keep the sockets from falling out It'll even hold completely upside down as long as you aren't too violent with the shaking. The plastic feels like its probably a solid chunk, so it's going to be very durable. The markings are all clear and readable. They hold what is generally considered a full run of sizes, with both the 1/4" & 3/8" versions having room for standard and deep well. The 1/2" tray only holds one run, which is a bit of a downside to me. I understand that they do it to keep the size of the tray down, but I'd like to see them offer a 1/2" tray with holes for a full complement of regular & deep for those of us who have the room.I have read that there are some brands of sockets which won't fit into the holes, but my Craftsman & Pittsburgh sockets all fit fine. Just a little bit of play so they're easy to insert, but no so much as to make them rattely.Highly recommended.
