While working on my GE washing machine and replacing the transmission assembly, an extra deep 33mm socket was needed to remove the nut holding the transmission shaft. I tried a standard depth deep socket and that wasn't deep enough, so went to amazon and found this one advertised as "Extra Deep" and purchased it and discovered it was exactly what was needed for the job. It truly is extra deep and worked perfectly to remove the nut using a 1/2" drive impact wrench.

This was well built and well constructed . I wound up returning it because it is mainly useful for repair on my vehicle when an axel nut needs to be removed. I wound up taking the vehicle to a mechanic to make the repair , so I returned this as ithis tool isn’t used very often, so I returned it.

This tool definitely falls into the category of 'tools you'll only need once for 5 mins but can't complete job without it' so right away there are mixed feelings involved, but just judging this socket on it's quality alone, it's top notch!Extremely well crafted, sturdy, and sized to perfection. This is one of those tools that as long as you don't lose it/have it stolen from you, you will never need to replace it.While it's true that it's a tad pricey for a single socket, the amount of money you are saving by not having to take your truck to a shop offsets the cost easily.Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this socket! Even though it's not your star player like the #10 socket is, it comes through in the clutch when you need it. And that's all that you can really ask for :)

Worked as it should! This little suckered helped save me hundreds off a CV axle replacement job. This tool helped me take off my axle nut and get me started on my evening job. My axle nut was seized on pretty good that it required a heating torch and not only a breaker bar, but a cheater bar/extension on top of that! And this bad boy stood up to it! Nor only was my repair a success but no broken tools! So a double win!

Another great ARES tool. 30MM 12-point worked perfectly for my 2005 Avalon front wheel hubs (replaced the entire knuckle as an assembly on both sides). (The factory axle nuts were 12-point and the new axle nuts are 6-point and of course the 12-point socket works with both.)Note that the axle uses a "staked nut" - there is a groove in the axle and after torquing, the flange on the nut is driven down into this groove to "stake" the nut in place and keep your wheel from falling off the car (takes the place of the castle nut and cotter pin on older style cars). Technically you should unstake the nut before removing it, to avoid damaging the threads on the axle. See the "JTC AUTO TOOLS Drive AXLE NUT Installer and Remover Tool for Toyota" to visualize this.Be extremely careful using an impact wrench on your axle nuts. If you need to use an impact wrench to loosen the nuts, do it with the tire resting on the ground (remove the center 'Toyota' logo wheel cap from the wheel to get access); otherwise some of the impact force is reaching your relatively delicate transmission components . When installing the new axle nuts, use hand tools only instead of an impact wrench. (If you damage the axle threads, you might have to install a new drive axle on that side.) Overtightening the axle nut will damage the new bearings, so be careful. (Correct torque for 2005 Avalon is 217 lb-ft - my old torque wrench is only good for 150, so I ordered a larger torque wrench too.)And instead of hammering the axle out of the hub, use a puller if at all possible. If you do damage the axle threads, a "GEARWRENCH External Thread Restorer File, Metric, 0.75, 1, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 2.5, 3 Pitch - 2228D" might help you clean them up - the 1.5mm (metric) pitch is what you need for a 2005 Avalon.
