I received this over two years ago and can't believe I haven't reviewed it until now. The simple version: I like it. The longer version: I started using it and the various parts have ended up mixed in with all my other electronics project stuff. I really wouldn't be able to pick it out of the jumble at this point. That's a good thing because I throw away the stuff that doesn't work well. Everything in this kit is good and totally worth it.

Very nice mix of components and wiring for small projects.

This kit comes with a lot of stuff for your breadboarding needs...3 breadboards3 sets of "attached" wires (I call them "Dupont wires" - not sure if that is correct) - M/M, M/F, and F/FSet of resistorsSet of 2 sizes of LEDs (red/green/blue/white/yellow) in a plastic containeradditional jumper wiresa kit of additional assorted length, color-coded solid jumper wires in another plastic containera kit of tweezers (multiple tips styles)I like the fact that it is all packaged in a plastic storage box, and the additional internal boxes for the LEDs and the solid hookup wires is a nice feature.I am not sure the value of so many tweezer styles being included, but it's OK to have them (I already have several of them on hand). The plastic "bag" that they come in isn't great, though. Several of the tweezers ripped out the bottom of the bag so they won't stay in place. This isn't a huge deal to me, since I will probably throw the bag out anyway. The quality of the breadboards seem just OK to me - they don't sit perfectly flat. The wires are retained fine when inserted, and that is the most important aspect to me.I think generally speaking, it's a good kit, but not a GREAT kit of parts. For this reason I am giving it 4 stars - one could probably argue its 4.5 stars, but it's a decent kit for the money.

As an electronics enthusiast, I own and review a number of similar kits. What this kit lacks in diversity, it makes up for in quantity. I mostly review a product for what it claims to be and (without counting every component) everything seems up to par. The quality of the perf boards is mostly fine. The components I spot-checked on a meter all matched labels, etc.You get three perf boards of reasonable quality. One of mine is a bit warped, but in practice that's probably not a real problem in practice. These are the brand "orange and white" that dominate kits like this. The inclusion of 6 pairs of tweezers is an odd choice. OK, we all probably NEED tweezers when working with small electronics, but nothing in this box really needs tweezers to work with. If you need them, it's a nice bonus, but it may be duplicating something you already have on the bench. There are three 40-pin ribbon cables about 8" long. One each of M-M, F-F, and M-F as well as a motley collection of various length breadboard dupont M-M wires, After the cable tie that holds them together is cut, these quickly devolve into a tangle. Frankly, the shortest at maybe 2" long are too short to be much use - anything that short is better served by the pre-form wires in the box that are much easier to manage in the long term anyway. There are 200 LEDs: Red, Green, Blue, Yello, White in each of large and small. These are all in a convenient box of their own. There are 600 1/4W resistors in a variety of sizes. They're cut from a roll and have the sizes hand-written on the tape in case yo don't have a meter handy or have Bad Boys memorized yet. There is a number of preformed wire jumpers, also in a box of their own, that are convenient for perfboarding. My fuss with this kit is that it's a lot, but it's not enough. Yes, 200 LEDs is enough LEDs for most lifetimes and a 600 pc. resistor kit sounds like a lot. It's a wide bariety from 10 to 1Mhom and it's 20 of each value. If you're building something with a total of 16 LEDs, you see you'll hit the limit pretty quckly. Probably the 330-470 ohms will be the first to run out for that reason, so you'll be shopping for most of those while never touching the lesser common values like the 680K. Still, it may be important to you to have the full range of diversity. The number of wires is totally overkill for three breadboards. Again, having choices may be good to you and it's not like wires are expensive on their own. This kit is going to supplement something else in your life unless you're just building lights that stay on all the time. Count on pairing it with a microcontroller and another varieity of capacitors, transistors, voltage regulators, buffer chips, and such.If I were rating strictly on "does it provide what it says it is", it's a 4.5 stars, blemished only by the somewhat useless short wires and the warped perf board. However, I don't feel this is a great value for most experimenters. There's a high count of items in this kit, but not a large diversity of stuff that a repair person or experimenter really needs. You're going to have to immediately supplement this with one or more separate purchases to really learn and experiment. So I have to ding it a star for "value". There are similar products here - including some from this very vendor - that provide more diversity per dollar. If these are parts you're confident you'll use, go for it, but most of us can find a wider diversity of parts for a similar or lower price.
