Specifications of M12 lens kit for Raspberry Pi camera

Note:

1.Choose a suitable lens holder as follows:

a) Determine the lens holder height listed in the lens specifications for your selected lens. If you use a different lens holder height, you might not be able to focus the lens at all.

b) Ensure that the lens holder matches the screw hole pitch of your camera board. Lens holders are available with18mm and 20mm pitches.

2.If required, the thread gap between the lens and lens holder can be filled with damping grease or similar glue in order to fix the lens in position after focusing.

3.Specks of dust or tiny bubblers might be visible on the image while focusing the lens. These will disappear when the lens is in focus, and will not affect image quality.

4.When focusing or replacing a lens, do not screw the lens into the lens holder too deep, otherwise the lens might touch and damage the image sensor. Often, focusing a lens is performed while monitoring the image quality on a video screen. A blurry image will result if the lens is screwed in either too deep or too shallow from where it is in focus.

The 45 degree and 55 degree lenses work, but the three wider angle lenses do not screw in close enough to the sensor to properly focus. Do not buy these for the IMX477 M12 Raspberry Pi camera.

I ordered this lens set for a macro application: specifically automated scanning in 16mm film frames to create digital video. I originally was very excited about the 'low distortion' label on this item. While the lens has less of a fish-eye look I see more blurring around the edge than the original lens that came with my arducam kit. I see some improvement in the focal area of the photo but this is at the expense of the edges. Very slight but definitely present, see #38 on the left of the photo. I am not optics expert but I have tried various ranges and zooms and cannot get the edge blur to go away. Still it is an impressive lens kit and it was fun to try out all of the different lenses. I can definitely see these being useful for some application

These lenses are amazing. Though I wish they provided very exact dimensions so that you could tell if thread length and working distance match your camera.

Must admit I was skeptical at first of those lenses; however, once we started to use them to ascertain what lens would be best for each project this kit became invaluable. The quality of the product was terrific and the team at Arducam were also very responsive to our inquiry. We now have purchased both kits packages and these will be the tools each engineer use in the field. We highly recommend it.
