This will be used for some future traveling. The lense is lightweight and fairly compact. Still learning how to use it for the best composition

As long as you don't expect stellar performance, this a good general purpose zoom. If you want stellar, or have an A7R series, get the 24-105mm instead...it is outstanding.

I have always been fan of Prime lenses; however several trips convinced me that they could be too confining. I bought this lens for my Sony A-6000 in anticipation of a small ship cruise to Alaska. Pre-trip tests were very positive. For example, when shot at 135 mm at f/8, the lens is as sharp as my fixed prime 135 mm lens! And equally good at all focal lengths except the very low end. At 18 up to about 23 mm the corners were not terribly sharp. By about 24 mm everything was excellent. I always try to use it 2 f-stops below maximum aperture at a given focal length. If needed, I raised the ISO to get me a high enough shutter speed. Also, to my amazement, the optical stabilization really does help get sharper pictures at relatively slow shutter speeds.On the Alaskan trip the lens really excelled. Beautiful images; sharp and with snappy contrast. I was absolutely delighted. When I show the pictures on my 50" TV, I relive what was a wonderful experience.The lens is relatively light. Zooming is very smooth. And the auto-exposure from the camera was spot on.This is a great zoom lens.

It is a good lens for travel, the autofocus is very good and silent, with my sony a6000 picture are very sharp
