About this item

  • The latest Nylgut model 4U soprano uke strings
  • Regular Key of C Tuning: G C E A
  • Highly polished and smooth surface
  • Elevated resistance to wear under tension - greater than that of gut
  • Made in Italy

A fundamental aim of Aquila's research has been to make a new synthetic product having the same acoustic properties as gut, but without its typical defects - (high cost, limited duration and high instability under varying climates)..

Solid strings. Installed easily. String identification on the envelop in a horizontal box. I’ve had good results with Nylgut strings.

While looking at new ukuleles recently I couldn't decide if I needed one, but I did decide that I liked the Aquila Nylgut strings on them. I bought these to replace the strings that came with my Makala MK-S and they definitely feel better.

These are hands down the best ukulele strings that I've ever used. I've tried a few, including some other ones made by Aquila, and I always come back to their standard Nylgut. They supposedly mimic the sound and feel of high-end strings made from real gut. Frankly, the thought of using animal intestines to make music is a little off-putting, so these are the best option.

I put these on a soprano that came with them but after trying a variety of other strings on my other ukuleles I find these are actually my least liked strings. They are pretty soft and easy on the fingers but the sound is too mellow for my taste with no brightness. They also don't like to stay in tune very well. I find I can't play them as hard as a harder feeling string like a fluorocarbon without buzzing. It feels like they have a lower tension so it's easier to over pluck them and hit a fret. I also find the intonation and sustain is not as good as the fluorocarbon either. I'm a beginner though so your results may vary. All this is a matter of preference and taste and ability. If you like a soft feel and a more traditional, mellow gut sound then these are pretty good strings.

What a difference good strings make! I bought an inexpensive Ukelele to learn on. I bought these strings as an upgrade and they are so much better than the strings that came with the ukelele. There is much better action and a better sound now that I have changed the strings. I like that they are color coded to help with stringing. These will now be my go to brand for Ukelele strings

What a difference in the sound after I change the strings on my ukulele. The sound is more rich and the strings stay in tune better, once they have some time to rest. They were pretty easy to put on. I always kind of struggle with the pegs at the top of the neck, but I think that's my technique and has nothing to do with the strings.

One of the best strings I have used so far. I definitely recommend them.

This is my first review but it was an amazing product! I hadn’t ever changed the strings before or even had anyone change them for me so after 5 years my strings did not sound good. I had a bit of difficulty putting on the strings but that was mainly my fault since it was my first time. Other than that they look nice and sound amazing! After over a month of constant playing they still are amazing!

I've never had a bad set of Aquila strings-- no bubbles or deadspots in sight!I have 8 Ukes and have tried various brands-- for 90% of the music I like to play, Aquila delivers the perfect tone. For heavy use (i.e. you literally play for a living) you may want to swap out strings every couple months. Nevertheless, I keep these on my ukes for 6-8 months and have no issue. Confession: I kept the same strings for four years in college because on an instrument I left at home. The tone was still just as good as the day I left.
