Didn’t work using the written instructions so we watched videos. Made the tank water dirtier because all it did was shift things around instead of sucking it up.

Took a while to get started, but did good on first use and ok on second. Maybe one more use. I'm okay with that for the cost, but doesn't feel environmentally friendly.

I bought this to aid in cleaning my sister’s 7.5gal beta tank and I was not disappointed. It’s quick, it’s easy, and the clamp helped it stay in the bucket without concern. I would suggest watching a quick how to on YouTube to learn to start it without putting your mouth on it, and using a bend in the hose to control water flow especially when cleaning smaller tanks to avoid a larger water change. It’s simple and works as expected. I do wish they would make a little storage case for it though.

This siphon works exactly as one would expect. This is a much better design than the primer bulb style which tend to get clogged with stone chips and gunk so they lose suction and flow painfully slowly. The product is smaller than other siphons I’ve had in the past (I got the 5”) but for the 10-20 gallon size aquarium it’s fine. It’s not so large that it’s cumbersome to use or store. In fact the smaller size made priming the tubing a lot less messy. It got my gravel clean and had enough suction that little chips of gravel were removed with the fish waste. I collect my aquarium waste water for watering in the garden (great fertilizer!) and I was pleased that it emptied the water into my watering cans at a very manageable rate. I might have gone one size up for my 20 gallon but this was under $3 shipped so no complaints on the value. The next size up was still very reasonably priced.

When the first package arrived it had been opened and the attachable tube was missing. I contacted the seller and they sent me a new one with no hassle. Item works great as expected it takes a little bit of effort to get the section going but otherwise would fully recommend.

It’s hard to use. I use it on a 6 gallon tank and I do as instructed but it doesn’t work I usually suck on the opposite end to start the flow going the suction can suction gravel to strongly.

I am very happy with my new Aqueon Siphon Vacuum. My old one was a super cheepy (that I also loved for the price I paid for it) but sadly, the squeezy bulb gave out after a year. I paid a little more for this one, though not much more, and I have no regrets. When I first tried this vacuum, I tried pumping it up and down in the water as instructed, but it was just taking too long to get going. So I did suck on the hose to get it started and got the (ick!) mouth full of fish-tank water that everyone dreads. The second time I was wiser and gave it just a very quick bit of inbreath and it worked perfectly without me drinking any water! Less is more here, folks! I had my bucket sitting on a table just about 6" lower than my tank and it worked great. I didn't find it difficult to start or stop the flow when I wanted to, either. I think it's more about practice and timing than about the vacuum itself. The vacuum did an amazing job of cleaning the crap out of the gravel and very little gravel went up the hose. Sand might be a different story, I can't really comment on that.My absolute only complaint would be that the clip to attach the hose to the bucket doesn't work, it flips right off. But my old vacuum didn't have a clip at all, so no great hardship for me.I'm very happy with this Aqueon vacuum and I would recommend it.

I purchased this vacuum to help clean the bottom of a 45 gallon fresh water tank. I was leary at first since it was the first siphon vacuum I'd purchased, but was very pleased with the results immediately!I place a 5 gallon bucket on the floor, place the end of the hose into the bucket and secure it with the clip provided. I then place the vacuum in the tank, shake it up and down quickly to start the suction, and then take it to the bottom of the tank. It takes me about 10 minutes from start to finish! If you work quickly, it takes out approximately 25% of the water in the tank. Perfect solution for a clean tank and a water change! You must work quickly once the vacuum starts or you could easily end up removing more water, but makes cleaning and water changes quick and easy!
