Does exactly as described. We've been fighting pool vacuums stuck by our stairs for years - this thing spins the hose to move the vacuum within minutes. Some have complained it's cheap plastic - yes, it is. But it's 2024 - what isn't cheap plastic!

Doesn’t do anything. Good idea I guess but....

After 18 years using another pool cleaner, I switched to the Zodiac Baracuda on advice of my maintenance guy. The strength of the previous cleaner was it never got hung up in corners. The weakness was the cost of maintenance. After installing the new cleaner I found that it was a more effective cleaner BUT it always got stuck in the same corner no matter what we did to overcome it. I could not return it because my wife had scrapped the box. So after reading reviews complaining of the same problem, I bought the Twister. When I received it and looked at this small plastic device ( compared to the cleaner) I thought it was a waste of $50. Installed it and without any adjustments, the twister performed as promised. The cleaner still found its way to its favorite corner sooner or later, but after 5 to 10 mins, it always worked its way out without my help. I know it has only been installed a week or so, but if it continues to perform as it has, it will have been worth it. As others have said, I wish it was built more ruggedly, but even if I have to replace it every year, it’s still less than the maintenance cost of my last system.

Installation is very easy. Following the simple instructions is very important for proper operation and to avoid damaging the plastic gears. I use it with a Pentair Kreepy Krauly equiped with a Pentair leaf cannister. I added extra hose weights to ensure the Twister never surfaces. Pool debris does not become entrapped in the twister for the most part, but occasionally a sticky leaf will cling to the inside wall and should be cleaned out before becoming a nucleus around which other debris may gather. Operation with my Kreepy Krauly is significantly improved, but there is still one spot in the pool where it will get stuck and stay that way. It is not a panacea, but it has converted the Kreepy Krauly from a gadget requiring constant attention to one which requires only occasional attention. I have not tried removing the swivel from the end of the Kreepy Krauly to see if the Twister will then free the Kreepy Krauly from the "Steps of Doom".

Great idea, apparently cheaply made. Day 1, worked like a champ. Day 2 worked. Day 3.... not so much. Not only am I returning the product, but since you are required to slice up one of your hoses to install this, I am now short a hose. Going to be asking them to pay for a replacement hose section as well.I really wanted this to work. I have one corner that is like a magnet to the cleaner and I really needed this solution. On the first day, as soon as I installed this, the cleaner made a beeline for its favorite corner and immediately got stuck. However, 5 minutes later, as the hose did its twisting magic, it climbed free and roamed the pool like it should. I was overjoyed. On day 2 I noticed that it seemed to take longer to free up once it got stuck. Instead of 5 minutes it now took 10-15 minutes to free up, but it still worked. Ok, I could live with that. However today when it had been stuck for over 30 minutes I went to inspect and noticed that the wheels inside were no longer turning. Examining the unit, it's hard for me to tell what's wrong. Nothing visible broken, but if I spin the wheel with my finger, the front plate does not turn at all. The little yellow drive gear appears stuck at the very end of its run where it is supposed to go around the end of the teeth and start back the other direction.Note that I cleaned all the pool skimmers so everything is clean and water flow is great. The hose has a nice vibration, indicating plenty of suction. But this thing is DOA. So... love the idea, but don't buy this one. It won't last.

Twister solved my 2015 Hayward Aquanaut200 cleaner's issues (40-gal in-ground kidney-shaped pool). Cleaner was always stuck in the shallow end. Be patient/diligent "tweaking/adjusting" other components. The Twister WILL work if correctly installed (w/tweaking, of course)! Here's how I approached it & what I did (i.e. you need a 'control group'; only 1 change-at-a-time; learn from it).1. Diligence/Patience. Learn what's working/not-working w/yr cleaner.2. Adjust the 2 weights - moving them apart/together (despite mfg settings) makes a HUGE CHANGE!Not all cleaners are promised tas being wall-climbing. Mine is; Hayward Aquanaut200.3. Then my Aquanaut200 climbed & pop-out of the water.... this is equally unacceptable; it's hard on the pump (may need a Back-wash 'n Rinse to get the psi below 15).3. Regardless, make sure the cleaner's "throat" is either small, med or large (mostly large for wall climbing) & clear of debris.3. Always ONLY DO 1 change at-a-time2. Back-washed & rinsed the pool's Hayward filtration config (i.e. it was up about 17psi.... it's now about 12psi). I'll be doing this weekly!!

The concept is great. Unfortunately it didn't work. It sucks air when it's not submerged. I understand that it's not easy to create a large rotating seal without excessive friction. But I wish they had set that as a priority.Once it sucks air it floats and continues to draw in air continuously. In my case, I have a leaf catcher so this device would twist my leaf catcher up out of the water and cause it to suck air. This, in turn, would cause my leaf catcher to float. The floating leaf catcher would pull the twister up with it and cause it to gulp air. After I discovered my pool pump unprimed and headed for disaster on two occasions, I had to remove the twister for good. If it had been designed to be hermetically and structurally sound then it would probably work fantastic, but it would have certainly cost more. It's really a bandaid product so it's hard to say if the cost would be justified in that case. But for me, no cost is justified with the current design because it's in my pool supply cabinet collecting dust.

My Kreepy Krauly was constantly getting stuck at one particular part of my pool, where the curved step met the wall of the built-in spa. Since I am at work during the week, I am usually not around to noticed it & correct it, so the pool quite often wasn't being cleaned properly. Every evening I had to go out & check if it had stuck that day -- and frequently it had. I ended up removing a few of the hose connector tubes, shortening the reach & preventing the cleaner from reaching (or getting stuck at) that location. But of course now a fairly large area of the pool wasn't being cleaned at all. So I bought this twister. Doesn't look like much, and you can't easily SEE it twisting the hose because it does it slowly (3 times per hour) -- but it certainly does it! I restored the connectors that I'd removed, making the hose full-length, and now the cleaner reaches the entire pool - and it has not stuck once in the past 3 weeks. Happy camper. EDIT January 2013. I have owned this for about 3 months. On Saturday morning, I noticed that the cleaner had got stuck in the usual place (see above). But I decided to leave it and, after about an hour, it freed itself and started cleaning the rest of the pool. That NEVER happened before I installed the twister. Bottom line - well worth the $$
