How does it work?
Designed with double pads. The coarse pad can effectively clean inside the glass. And the soft pad is used to wipe dust outside. LOVE THIS ONE! I had a magnetic glass cleaner years ago but got tired of constantly needing to retrieve it from the bottom of my big tank so I never thought to get another one until I found this one. True to description, if it disconnects, the part inside the tank floats! I can switch to an adjacent wall by passing over the corner near the surface of the water. The magnet disconnects for a moment, floats then catches again. The only negative thing I have to say about the design is it's quite bulky on the outside part... I only wish it was a bit flatter but I'm guessing the bulk is due to a large, strong magnet inside the cap. Perhaps a flatter, more elongated design might be just as suitable....just a suggestion to the manufacturer.

I find it works smoother than my 30 year old magnets, but I have no other reference. I never saw a need for floating models. It's not hard to get them in and out without dropping them in the tank. The important think is they glide across the glass without binding, or picking up sand. They seem to clean the glass inside and out when they are new. I do not know how well they will age.

I have a small 3 gallon aquarium and the algae cleaning brushes that are typically sold are too big. This little magnetic algae cleaner is the perfect size for the job. It does a pretty good job scraping the algae off the inside of the glass. A few swipes back and forth and I'm done. Then I just rinse it off under running water to clean it and let it dry. Very easy to use.

Not being able to float has to be the dumbest idea ever for cleaning a tank with water in it. Very impractical but i will say it does clean, just very annoying having to hope it doesn't sink to the bottom of the fish tank.

This is the perfect size for my tank. The magnet is strong, the scrubber side works wonders on the algae and no scratches. I park it in the tank so I can use it daily and it has held up just fine.
