I have three Deco X55s running a dual-band mesh, so to install this Aqara Hub I told the Deco app to put my phone onto the 2.4GHz during setup since this inexpensive hub does not have a 5GHz radio (and why would it need one... it would just increase cost and reduce range). Then I downloaded the Aqara app and paired as normal.Once the Aqara Hub was connected to my WiFi, I used the Deco app to set the hub's connection preference to 2.4GHz, on the closest Deco satellite, and disable "mesh technology" since other reviews said it wouldn't work with a mesh (and the hub won't be moving around anyway). It has only been a couple of days, but the hub has worked flawlessly with Aqara's "wireless mini switch" (a little wireless button) tested outdoors up to 100' from the hub.I bought the Aqara Hub and button to control a group of Ring "smart lights" in our back yard since Ring requires you to use a slow, buggy app to turn on lights, or it relies on motion detectors which don't always see our dog. I was reluctant to add yet another hub to our home just to fill the gap in Ring's functionality, but aside from turning the lights on, being able to turn them off means saving batteries and reducing recharge time.By installing the Alexa App, then the Aqara Home "skill" and setting a "routine", I can now turn on the Ring smart light group in my back yard with a real life physical button at the door instead of "get phone->unlock screen->nav to app shortcut->enter lighting screen->wait for lights to load->turn on lights". Voice commands would probably have worked work from the Alexa app, but I refuse to live in a world where I run around yelling at apps and hubs while people try to work, sleep, and listen to music/tv/games/conversations.This is one of the least expensive hubs we have (especially compared to Ring and Hue, though the X-Sense and Diivoo hubs we have came in kits and could be considered less expensive), plus it's very small and does not need a mount as long as you have an extra USB adapter. It solved my problem, set up quickly, installed even faster, has great range, and was (relatively) inexpensive. I'm sure their other hubs have more features, but I don't need them and I'm glad Aqara has this base model smart hub!

I cant give it a proper review since it only works aqara branded devices and it was not clearly mentioned that it only works Aqara devices. So i really dont know what to do with this as my devices are TUYA/MOES

This product took no time to set up and connect. It worked as it’s supposed to. The lock works seamlessly with WiFi. Keeps me connected to my front door when I’m not home. Replaced the August connect with this and really do prefer this product.

We've had this item for almost a year now and it's only had one charge. It is a brilliant bit of kit that I am so pleased I got.I use it with my vertical blinds and Alexa. I have the blinds set to open in the morning and close when the routine for all the lights coming on in the evening, I hated that my lights came on when I wasn't home and the blinds still being open so bought this and it works perfectly well.It is pretty easy to set up, the dongle bit I plugged directly into my router so I haven't taken up another plug or USB port on my sockets.I highly recommend this item!!

Hub was easy to connect and use to remotely unlock my U100 smart lock. Does not connect to Samsung SmartThings, though, but works fine with Google Home and Alexa.

First I had the E1 hub, couldn't add it to my account/connect to network, so I decided to go with the more expensive M1S gen2, EXACT same thing happened. Cannot get this damn thing to connect to my network. Tried resetting it MULTIPLE times. Nothing works. Fails to connect. Then I saw this one line in the M1S manual (no mention of this in the E1 hub manual). "Wifi Name or password may contain special characters. Please replace them with normal characters".... REALLY, REALLY? Your device is the ONLY device I have ever come across that couldn't use special characters (most best practice security recommends special characters). In my Wifi password is ONE special character a "@". And this is preventing your product from working??? Why couldn't you just do a firmware update to correct the issue? So, I am supposed to reconnect every smart device in my home and reset them up with a new Wifi password, all because your ONE device cannot handle one special character? I rather just replace your device and return it and go with a manufacture that actually has the forethought to NOT make this a restriction.

I bought this to give me remote control access to my U100 Smart Lock. I had trouble trying to add the unit in the app.Helpful things I learned on Reddit forums:Wifi: I have an Eero mesh system ( 6E-Pro units) So I unplugged all of the units except my main router and put the network in 2.4ghz mode during setup. This allowed the unit to connect to my wifi. I have had no issues with the unit staying on the network with the other Eero units plugged back in and 5ghz turned back on.Homekit: I could not get the unit to add to the Aqara App. But once I added it to home kit it showed up in the app after about an hour. It also allowed me to bind my smart lock to the Hub.This unit great cost-effective unit that just adds more functionality to my U100 smart lock which I am very happy with.

I never thought setting up a motion detector could be that easy. But this inexpensive Aqara hub hooked my Aqara motion detector to my Apple HomeKit home automations. It works with Google and Alexa too. For the price you can't beat this thing. It supports thread, so it's using a much better protocol than Bluetooth, which has proven to be pretty unreliable in home automation. Thread is the future, and Aqara is supporting it.The motion sensor activates instantly and it turns the room light on instantly. Meanwhile the Aquar hub is downstairs plugged into an old USB power source in a wall plug by the front door. (I plan to put a motion sensor on the back of the mailbox door so I know when the mail arrives. If you've been hesitation putting in door and window sensors, light controls, motion and water leak detectors (and more) because of price. This is for you! Inexpensive, and it just works.

My primary need was to connect a motion sensor to my sump pump discharge pipe do I could trend how often the pump was running from season to season. Really pleased with it, and the basic features of the E1 hub were just what I needed.I have a Google WiFi home network with 2 AP's. Google WiFi supports dual band 2.4 and 5.0 GHz bands and each broadcasts the same network SSID, however to setup 2.4 GHz IoT devices using a mobile device can be problematic. This is because with Google Wi-Fi there is no option to temporarily disable the 5 GHz band and your mobile phone will always connect to the 5 GHz band if it can.If you can get your mobile phone to connect to your 2.4 GHz band on your home router, than you are good to go, and you can stop reading. I've read some people had success by powering off AP's and going to a part of the house with poor wi-fi coverage and cycling the wifi on their mobile to fall back to 2.4 GHz. Did not work for me.If you cannot temporarily disable the 5 GHz band on your router, the steps below should work for you too, but not necessarily for the faint of heart.Work around, IF you have a 2nd mobile device handy, with carrier network and Hot Spot capability:1. Download and install the Aqara Home app on your mobile device. (Mobile #1)2. Temporarily power off the Google WiFi router and any Access Points (AP's)3. Turn off some of the wi-fi devices in the house that may be heavy Internet devices, such as TV's, video games, streaming devices, desktop and notebook computers. When you enable the Hot Spot on the 2nd mobile phone (next step), any active wi-fi devices will connect to that Hot Spot phone as well. They will consume your mobile data and impact your Hot Spot performance.4. On a 2nd mobile phone (Mobile #2) with carrier service, setup the HOT SPOT with the exact same SSID and password as your home network. When you enable Hot Spot on a mobile phone, it broadcasts on 2.4 GHz band, which is what is needed to configure the Aqara hub.5. Enable the Hot Spot on Mobile #2.6. Ensure Mobile #1 connects to the Hot Spot network. Likely will connect automatically.7. On Mobile #1 proceed to setup the Aqara Hub device as per instructions in the app.8. Once all done, turn off the Hot Spot on Mobile #2 and rename the Hot Spot name (SSID) to something other than your home network. Just so you don't create a network SSID conflict if the Hot Spot is turned on in the future.9. Power on the main Google WiFi router and any AP's10. Power back on any devices that were disconnected in step 2 above. The Aqara hub and all home devices should now be connected to the main home network as expected. You may need to power cycle some devices to get them to reconnect to the home network. You can now install and setup any IoT sensors to your Aqara hub.
