The temperature has dropped down to -3 and the water in the trough continues to be free of any ice. It sits submerged in a stainless steel trough about three feet above the ground and not one morning have I had to deal with clearing the water of ice for the horses. It definitely is worth the price.

I used this heater in a 100 gallon rubber made tank for my horses. It worked great! There was no ice in it at all & the previous heater I purchased did not keep ice from forming. I would recommend this heater!

My 300 gallon horse trough heater was not cutting it so I ordered this heater. I was skeptical but it works! Temperature has gotten down to single digits and the horse trough is ice free and steaming! I highly recommend this heater!

So far it works great! I got it to keep my duck pool from icing over, and we've already been down to 8°F, and it kept the whole pool ice-free.

This heater lasted only about three months in my 50 gallon horse watering tank. It's a better design than what I can get at the local farm equipment store, but longevity matters & this one was short on that!

From North of Montreal, temperatures at the moment -10c, presently using it in our fish pond. We added a remote on/off switch to control the temperature. So far all is well, works great.

I've been through roughly 5 heater/ de-icers over the past 10 years with my 2700 gallon pond. I used to have frequent ground fault issues every year with prior heater/de-icers, but not so far with the API 1500. This heater is amazing! Puts out so much heat that my koi are very active on a 20 degree day in the mid-atlantic. This is the first heater that can de-ice my entire pond if I leave connected full time. The birds, squirrels and fish all love it! I'm a bit nervous about my electric bill, but on first glance, I'm not seeing any issues. I plan to clean and reuse this one, and hope to use for many years!

Had my husband buy me one of these for my September birthday. Installed in ~50 gallon water garden about 6 weeks ago - it has been working great and keeping the water free of ice - this was even during a 4 degrees (F) cold snap last week. Had another cold snap last night (7 degrees F) and checked water garden this morning - frozen!!! Can't even remove or move this unit because it's froze solid in the ice. UGH!!! Recently purchased a second one as a backup and will use it until I can find a more reliable replacement. Looking into bubblers now.
