I have bought many different brands. This is the only brand that I found that does not have any noticeable stray micro-voltage emitted into the water. With even a conductive rod in the water tank and it wired to a 4 foot ground spike into the ground. The other brands just don't cut it. Horses are very sensitive to stray micro-voltage and can feel them with their very sensitive lips. My horses refuse to drink water when any other brands are installed in their water tank. Cows are not as sensitive to this issue. After trying other brands, my horses are leary of the water and refuse to drink. This is a big health issue. I now buy more than one API brand at a time if I need to replace one, just to be sure and have one on hand. They do last a long time. Gaskets and spare mounting nuts can be bought through MILLER MANUFACTURING INC. They make this tank heater and are only a wholesaler. They don't sell the tank heater to the public, but can sell you the gasket and plastic mounting nut if needed. Removing the heater after winter, does take a toll on the gasket and nut, but the heater keeps right on working as needed. Hope this helps.

This unit did not fit our stock tank even though is states it is universal. The rubber gasket and mounting face were too small and it leaked. When we decided to send it back, we discovered that even though they provided FALSE information in the listing we would have to pay for shipping back to the company. NOWHERE IN THE LISTING IS THIS INFORMATION AVAILABLE. Very disreputable company, they received the returned item several weeks ago and still have not received a refund. AMAZON WAS NO HELP IN ANY OF THIS. THE COMPANY PROVIDED FALSE INFORMATION AND AMAZON LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT. BUYER BEWARE OF THIS SELLER. THIS ITEM DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR RETURNS. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER.

This is best deicer on market. Fits in drain plug of metal or plastic tubs,so no cords for livestock to get a hold of. I like this one because alot of submersible deicers do not have a over-temperature protection.,which protects the heater from overheating. For instance when its out of water others simular ones will burn up .SO BE WARE if your livestock drinks it down duri3 the night or in the day before you can fill it back up others will burn up. Excellent heater have had one over 5 years and no problem
