About this item

  • Assembled tray dimensions: 12x16x2 inches. Working area on tray 11x15 inches.
  • BugSnub gel is a mineral oil based, food grade product that creates a physical barrier that ants can't walk across.
  • The gel is applied to the underside of upside down cups, so it's protected from large debris like dropped pieces of pet food.
  • BugSnub gel is designed to keep its goopy consistency at a wide range of temperatures. So it won't melt or dry up even on a hot summer day.
  • One application can last all year. Never spill or refill another messy liquid moat.

Includes one black melamine tray, four BugSnub legs with adhesive pads, and four packets of BugSnub insect blocking gel.

Did exactly what I was hoping for. I have had this product out on my "kitty catio" for over two weeks now and no signs of any ants. Prior to this product, I put down a bowl of food and it had ants crawling all over it within 24 hours or less. For anyone that states this doesn't work maybe you need to place it on some stepping stones to stop ants from crawling up a blade of grass or something. It definitely works, so now I can be at peace knowing I can leave my cat for a couple of days without worrying about the ants taking over his food dish!

Nothing has worked at all but this DOES! Dog food has been saved. It’s very light and easily wiped. We have not had a single ant reach the food, but you have to apply the deterrent correctly. No damage to floor and fits two small - medium bowls easily

I've tried lots of products, but this one's truly exceptional; I highly recommend it to keep ants out of your pet's outdoor food.

I didn't realize Ant-palooza had come to town this summer, but it feels never ending! I have three kitties who don't always finish their food in one go and these buggers were super psyched about that. Finally got these trays to try out, and they have solved the pain of me having to clean out billions of ants on three bowls twice daily. They are a little pricier than I would have liked, but they have a solid quality about them, they were easy to set up, and they're stable, and do the job I needed them to. I think they'll last a long time. I haven't had them for long, so I haven't had to reapply the goo just yet, but I wasn't bothered by the feel of it on my fingers when applying.

So I got this tray for my 8 year old indoor/outdoor cat. With the rain finally coming, in California, we've had a trail of ants every now and then from the front door to the cat bowl. The tray is the right size, not too small, and not too big. Perfect for 2 bowls, I often have one iced timed bowl for early mornings and then another bowl.I just set it up, so can't comment on effectiveness yet, but I do have two initial thoughts:1) The surface of the tray is very slick. So unless your pet bowls have some sort of bottom on them that won't slide around, pets are going to struggle with that! I happened to have some of that sticky waffle shelf paper rubber stuff handy, so I cut a piece and put it straight on there, which should solve the slippery problem.2) The instructions show someone putting the goopy stuff on the tray cups with their bare hands... so I did that, figuring it would wash off with soap. It does not, and leaves you with this disgusting, sticky residue all over your hands for... I don't know how long. They should tell you to wear gloves.Anyway, will try to update on it's effectiveness once we have a chance for the rein to come again. It'll be nice of this solution keeps ants away from pet food effectively! I might get another for our feral!

Springtime in our area (and probably for many people) is when those ant suckers literally seem to come out of the woodwork no matter how much you try to clean things up. We have cats that are quite messy eaters such that their bowls were attracting ants. We tried moving bowls around, keeping the area clean, but the ants just kept coming; I was having to put the cats' bowls up/down rather than leaving them for free feeding, which the kitties did NOT like and was becoming a hassle.I think I searched "cat bowl/dish for ants" and happened upon this product. I saw some reviews that the gel (applied to the tray's feet) is very sticky, my husband helped me assemble it and used a paintbrush to apply it. He mentioned some still got on his hand and did feel extremely greasy, so using a paintbrush or gloves when applying the gel seems advisable. The tray seemed larger in photos to me than how it looked in person, but the tray is still large enough for me to put two water dishes in the back and two medium-ish food dishes in the front. My cats were not perturbed by the tray at all and are feeding/drinking normally. To test it more accurately, I kept the tray in the same spot where I had the dishes before in our back room.I make sure to check the floor for stray food bits---they still manage to fling food around---as that will still attract ants. However, since the start of using this tray, I have not seen any more ants climbing around their dishes/in their food. The product is perhaps a little pricey for what it is---it's all plastic construction---however it is worth the money to me as I am not battling ants daily like before. My cats normally prefer their food/water dishes in our bedroom; now that I have tested the tray in our back room for about a week or so, I will move the tray back to the bedroom and will try to write an update.UPDATE: The tray is back in the bedroom where the cats prefer it the most: they like to graze at night. The lack of the food there was making my cats hungry (too lazy to walk to the back room) and waking me up really early. The area still seems ant-free, and I am now able to sleep better lol.
