MAXIMIZE LIFE OF YOUR ANNULAR CUTTER / PREVENT PREMATURE DULLING OF BLADES

Use our HSS annular cutters to cut suitable materials only

Recommended for steel sections and steel plate. Can also be used for the materials listed below.

For hardened metals, use carbide annular cutters, also available in our store.

Secure workpiece and drill properly

There should be no movement between the workpiece and drill during cutting.

If using a magnetic drill, check there are no metal chips on the magnet base before each cut. They will prevent full magnetic adhesion with the workpiece.

If the workpiece is less than 1/2” thick, use a 3/8” steel sheet under it to ensure the magnetic drill will grip it firmly.

Match the annular cutter size and material drilled to the correct feed rate

Recommended speed at which holes should be cut in mm/min = *Feed rate F x *Rotation Speed R

As an illustration, using an annular cutter size ½” to drill holes in low carbon steel, the speed at which the hole is cut should be between 0.08 x 612 = 49 mm/min and 0.13 x 612 = 80 mm/min. Adjust the rotation speed of the feed handle to match the recommended speed.

Bits cut good. 5/8 punched 42 holes and never slowed down. Have not used another bit out of the set but I hope they all work like the one.

Super clean cuts with mag drill. Shocked to have zero burrs on top and underside of holes through 3/8 steel. Stayed cooling when drilling. Staying super sharp after 20 holes

I’ve been using these bits for more than a year and have been very satisfied with them.

I have been wanting to get an annular cutter set for a very long time. Most annular cutter sets are intended for use in mag drills. I do not have a mag drill but I do have a vertical mill. I put the annular cutter into a 3/4" collet (using 3/4" cutter), set the rpm's to roughly 100 and started feeding into a piece of 3/16" tube steel. The cutter went through like hot butter, the biggest issue was the need to stop the process to break the long burrs that started becoming dangerous.Since I was using a 3/4" collet and the mill, I did not have a spring for the point, the slug still came out of the cutter with very little effort. Eventually I may make a tool for inside the collet to use the plunger to remove the plug. But overall, I will never go back to using a drill bit again. The entry side was the cleanest I have ever had and the exit side left almost no burrs. The pictures attached are immediately after the cut without any processing to remove the burrs.
