I own a lot of fly reels and Ross Reels never disappoints. I'm really enjoying this design of the Animas. I think it's well thought out and it looks and feels premium. The drag is very smooth with what feels like a very low startup inertia. I have it paired with a Sage Pulse 6wt and it feels great. Makes my time on the water that much better.

Sometimes marketers get the better of me. I needed a $20 reel, I got two of these instead. They do the same thing no matter how serious you think you are about fishing. The little Apache children down at the rez ran up to the lake with some fishing line tied to a broken twig and caught more fish than all the rest of us with boats, fish finders, fancy everything else, etc... Get your heads right.Otherwise, it's a nice reel that does what a reel is supposed to do.

Bought a Sage reel in same price range and was very disappointed when I discovered it was made overseas! Sent it back and ordered this Ross reel and am very happy! It's a great reel and made in Colorado. Support US businesses while we still have some! Happy to see it seems more than just the bottom line for Ross! I'll buy more!
