What Is a Polishing Compound Bar?

Our polishing compounds, also known as rouge bars, are made up of tightly packed abrasive materials that are held together by greasy binders. They are used to smooth out a rough surface with small scratch or surfaces that have already been sanded down, but just needs that final stage of polishing to achieve a perfect finish.

Works as expected but the bars are a little on the drier/harder side. You get what you pay for though.

I recently got my hands on the Angerstone Metal Polishing Compound Kit, and it's been fantastic for maintaining my guitar's frets. The set includes three buffing bars in green, white, and red, each designed to restore a high-polish shine to metal surfaces. This compact and versatile kit is perfect for guitar owners who want to take fret maintenance into their own hands. The compounds work wonderfully when used gently on a soft cotton rag, such as a piece of worn T-shirt, making it easy to buff and shine the frets to perfection. In my experience, I own a set of fret-fixing tools that I use to address any fret ends and occasionally adjust the fret heights. While the frets function perfectly after these adjustments, they often lose their factory shine. That’s where the Angerstone polishing compounds come in. By applying a small amount of the compound to a super soft cotton rag and gently stroking back and forth, I can restore the frets to a super fine, mirror-like shine. The process is straightforward and highly effective, allowing me to achieve professional-grade results right at home.To ensure the fretwood remains unscathed during the polishing process, I use painter's tape to protect the sides. This extra step helps me focus on polishing the frets without worrying about accidental damage to the fretboard. The results have been consistently impressive, with the frets regaining their brilliant shine and smooth finish. Not only does this improve the appearance of my guitar, but it also enhances the playing experience by providing a smooth surface for my fingers.Overall, the Angerstone Metal Polishing Compound Kit is a must-have for any guitar owner serious about maintaining their instrument. The quality of the compounds, combined with their ease of use, makes this kit an invaluable tool for keeping frets in top condition. Whether you're fixing frets or simply looking to restore their shine, this kit delivers outstanding results with minimal effort. Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their guitar maintenance routine!

Required for using a polishing wheel - even the more abrasive wheels, such as denim do very little without a polishing compound periodically applied. This works for light jobs, such as just polishing. It does not take off much material (none of the 3 are abrasive enough to take out scratches). They are very small bars. It's difficult to hold them in front of the cotton polisher wheel without it grabbing the bar and throwing it, breaking it. But the quantity would be sufficient for quite a bit of jewelry polishing. I'm just using it for large metal bars and tools. There is no markings on the box telling which one is is the roughest or smoothest, so you'll need to take note in the product description and write it on the box yourself. They do polish well, leaving a black residue (likely from the material I'm polishing itself).
