Before use I cleaned out the threads of all dirt from manufacturing.I then applied a generous coating of high pressure oil to all threads, surfaces and inside the bearing.I did not use the supplied grease. The die then produced a perfectly smooth and shaped hole with no burr at all in 0.05" Alu sheet metal.Wonderful for the price for my application of punching holes in Alu sheet stock. One detail is the bolt is a large 0.75" diameter so the started hole needed is pretty big. I used a 0.75" punch to make the starter hole from a drilled 0.375 hole.Going to enjoy these punches.

I use these for custom automotive work, mainly in firewalls, core supports, and trunk pans - areas I don't like using big or long drill bits. They get the job done quickly, just knocking off one star as they sometimes leaves a burr (I'd take off a half star if I could, the burr usually isn't a problem as most times I surface prep and paint afterwards).

You have to drill a pretty large initial hole which I didn't like, but once that's done these pop the panel holes like butter. And perfectly sized and clean

I am not an electrician per se so I can not attest to how well these knock out cutters perform under heavy use.I am a Controls installer and use them occasionally. Maybe 1 time every 2 weeks. So far they work flawlessly. I bought these to replace a greenlee ratchet set I had.I just did not want to pay the greenlee price plain and sumple.I have no regrets.
