Our patented design makes install easy for any contractor and since the base is wood, it can be painted or stained to match the rest of the banister. The ball can be lifted about a quarter inch to paint or stain the top of the base as well. Please be aware that this is a clear crystal ball. Do not install it where it will be exposed to direct sunlight (windows, glass doors, etc) for prolonged periods of time. It can act like a magnifying glass and start a fire.

This is an incredibly beautiful crystal ball and would look amazing on a banister post. Unfortunately it was too big for ours. I contacted the Amlong to see if they could make one a little smaller but never heard back from them. It's a shame, it would have been the perfect touch to our new staircase

Only giving 4 stars because I could not i stall this kn the bannister as planned due to getting direct sunlight. My daughter asked if it would burn and sure enough, we set it on the bannister and when the sun hit it, it became so hot it burned my hand with seconds. It is a fire hazard if placed in the wrong location. Otherwise, it is beautiful! I’m bummed I can’t use it. I discovered the issue after the return policy expire, so It is sitting in the closet… maybe I can use for halloween!

It is a nice chrystal ball, but too big for my stairs. It will probably look good on some bigger newel post.

It is a great product but it didn’t come with any instructions ie, can the crystal be tightened to the base?Can it be taken apart to paint or stain?
