Replaced leaking seals in tank. Comes with rubber washers/seals or ones that insert thru holes and the screw thru it. I had to use the washers as the others don’t work on the tank I have.

I have the 4092. I needed the 'beveled sponge washer' (the big one between the tank and the bowl. This kit came with 2 different sized 'beveled sponge washer's. The smaller one fit. It doesn't have octagonalappearance but didn't matter. I used the new small flat rubber washers on my 2 original flat-head toilet to bowl bolts. I probably could have gotten more life out of the original ones. I didn't use anything else in this kit (none of which had any relevancy to my 4092). I could have used the larger bolts, but no rubber washer was provided for that up-sized bolt. If all you need is the 'beveled sponge washer' for a 4092 then you should be ok with this kit.The instructions do not clarify what parts are for what toilets. The 4092 was not even mentioned in theinstructions anyway. One thing you should know, is that this 'beveled sponge washer' seems overly thick when put in place.I didn't think it would work, but decided to give it a try anyway, by slowly tightening the 2 tank to bowl bolts, slowly of course, but I also got it about halfway squeezed down and thought it would be prudentto let it sit like that for a hour or so before I proceeded to squeeze it any more. Be careful, the tank willbe unstable until it is fully mounted. Something to brace the tank may be needed here. (towel) etc. A tip is to place a flash light shining upward on the floor behind the toilet. This will help you to see if thetank still has a gap where the tank is supposed to meet the bowl, thereby avoiding excess tightness. I placed it there 'as' I was bringing the tank down, to avoid an over tightened situation which can break ceramic.

I have an American Standard Toilet with 4028 tanks, circa 2005. Removed tank to repaint bathroom and decided I would replace the tank to bowl gasket and tank bolts/gaskets given their age. Going to Amazon, I noticed the American Standard Team verified for another user this was the proper part for a 4028. I had previously ordered the same kit to use with a 4078 with great success, so I decided to go with Amazon again for the OEM kit. Although the generic kits found in big box stores were less expensive, their form/fit seemed off so I decided using the OEM kit was the best route. It was roughly double the price of the generic kits. The first thing you notice is the kit provides gaskets for two different models, so immediately half the kit goes to waste. As noted by other buyers, the bolts are 5/16". When I used them with my 4028 tank, I was surprise only one fit because the other hole was only 1/4". Why American Standard drilled two different sized holes is beyond me, but I did not have the proper tools to widen the one hole nor did I want to risk damaging the tank if I did. So now only one of new bolts was useful and the other went to my unused parts shelf. The tank to bowl gasket fit correctly although it was shaped slightly different that the one I replaced. A bit thicker in its depth. As a result, I had to really tighten down on the bolts to firmly seat the tank. It was a bit concerning because the more I tightened down on the bolts, the more I worried about cracking the tank. Eventually I got it to seat such that the tank would not move back and forth if you leaned against it. Once done, the toilet worked fine with no leaks. In summary, the OEM kit probably was not much better than the generic kits I could have bought at Lowe's or Home Depot. In terms of value, I paid a lot for parts I could not use and even the ones I installed had their challenges. My advice to anyone buying this kit, make sure you check your tank hole sizes to verify you can use the 5/16" bolts.

According to the manufacturer, this is the correct kit to fix a 1999 AS 4072 tank to bowl repair job. However, the grommet supplied (yes, one) for the 2 bolts that attach the tank to the bowl were not correct. I ended up using the old grommets with the two rubber flat washers supplied. The correct grommets fit securely through the 5/16" tank holes and are tapered similar to a plastic hollow-wall anchor, allowing the bolts to snugly thread through. I have no leaks, but I wish American Standard would include the proper parts needed to repair the toilet.

I ordered this for a Model "4083" at American Standard's recommendation (although they were out of stock and suggested I check the internet if I needed it immediately, hence I came to Amazon) because I could not obtain the existing odd size 1/4" all brass bolts replacements from any of the normal suppliers (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.). However, this kit came with standard 5/16" bolts but it turns out the tank and bowel holes were actually 5/16" so, no problem, but I don't know why they were originally installed with the smaller bolts. But the really good news and important point is that the gasket that came with it is a precise fit for this tank/bowl combination and allows complete and full seating of the tank onto the bowl that is not possible with the generic after market kits because those gaskets are not exactly the right size. Per the enclosed instructions, you must be careful to incrementally tighten each bolt until you achieve full seating and not crack the tank, but once you do, you just know this is truly a solid fit that should last another 20 years. By the way, the gaskets and rubber bolt washers are all top quality material and the bolts and nuts are solid brass. Check inside your tank for your specific, 4 digit model number. If it matches this kits specification, this is the only way to go if you want an original factory quality replacement. Plus the price is very reasonable.
