From the Manufacturer

Since 1972, Amana Tool has been producing router bits and has become the global leader in its field. In fact, the company was the first manufacturer to produce router bits according to the Holz BG German standard for safety and quality. This standard contains rules that determine the structure and quality of the tool's material in order to create the safest environment for the user. From its beginning, Amana Tool has always used the highest quality materials, and its tools are produced using unique technologies, a majority of which were developed and built by the company's engineers following decades of testing and experience. For example, Amana Tool uses carbon alloy steel for its router bits that contains vanadium particles. This improves the structural integrity of the steel and prevents corrosion and defects in the internal structure of the material that can lead to cracks and breaks. High-tech machinery processes the carbon alloy steel to manufacture the router bodies in a single clamping. This yields router bits with superior balance, centricity, precision and symmetry. Eliminate the time-consuming hand-filing that normally follows each trimming cut on a laminate job. Amana Tool's patented -InchNo-Fileandtrade;-Inch bit -Inchbreaks-Inch the sharp edge as it trims the laminate flush.

This bit worked great on my laminate counter tops and backsplashes. I first flush trimmed them and then use this bit for finishing. This got rid of a lot of the glue and I didn't have to file the edges much or not at all. It does take some setup time, but nothing like a bit such as a drawer lock bit, which are way more tricky. I also used an extended base on my trim router (prevents dipping) and that makes a big difference. Quick and very smooth. You can make an extended base which isn't too hard or get one from Woodhaven who makes them for many trim routers.

I see nothing wrong with the quality of this bit, but I totally agree with other reviewers about the difficulty in getting it adjusted right. If you were to adjust this as shown in the instruction sheet that comes with it, you will remove the colored top layer of your edge band laminate. The lower cutting edge, below the radius portion is tapered. I think it would work much better if it only had the radius portion, and no cutting edge between the radius and the bearing. But I was able to use it after careful height adjustment and testing on scrap.

This is a very nice tool bit. It is hard to set up but once set you need to keep it in your power tool. It would be nice if I had two routers when I used this bit. Otherwise the bit is excellent.

I had this bit a couple of years ago but wore it out. I wasn't sure who made it so just now got around to getting another. I just delivered another laminated cabinet job and used this bit for my finish edges. It cuts well and the built in roundover saves my helper a lot of file work. I have at least 15 palm routers (all top brands) and don't believe any of them are perfectly square with the bases so there's still a little touch up but not nearly as much as with just a flush trim bit. The bit isn't made for hogging the first cut (wish it was) but does an excellent job on the last pass. I recommend it although I've only used this bit for one job of about 30' of convience store cabinets and check out counter so I can't say how many feet it'll trim. If you're seriously into production work, order several and always have a sharp one handy (they're cheap enough). If you're just a weekender it'll probably last you forever.
