Not entirely sure the application for this, I tried making a smooth surface metallic with this - it didn't come out too bright and barely looks metallic. Could try mixing it with a thinner to make a paint like substance, but hard to spread as is

I used this years ago and was so pleased to find it on Amazon. We are redoing 2 bathrooms. In one there was old paint on the door hinges. I rubed on Metallic Rub-n-Buff and it covered the paint, looked natural to the hing and matched my new brush nichol fixtures. I ordered a new switch plate and new cabinet knobs from Amazon. They had a leaf design top but a white base so I rubbed them too and they look great with the metallic base. I also used the orange color to change some metal leaves from gold to orange.I love this product is so easy, controlable and effective.

I got this with the intent of redoing a mirror as a highlighter since that was what it was recommended for - however it was not as easy as I had hoped. The formula is very thick and goes on/sets quickly even if you try to use less and buff immediately. It settles into filigree and cracks in a more solid way than I wanted. I tried several different approaches with application before I decided on diluting it and lightly brushing over my raised surfaces. This might be because I applied it over a matte chalk paint but it still was difficult to get it to go on without too thick of a finish. I feel like it’s still not quite the way I want it to look but I have plenty in the one tube provided to keep touching up as desired. Overall though I am happier with my repurposed $20 second hand mirror and I love doing diy projects. This just didn’t work as fluidly as I initially thought.

This stuff is amazing. I have a pewter sink I THOUGHT was solid pewter but it turns out it has a copper core. After about 3 years the copper began to show through in a few spots. I researched what could be done and found Rub'n Buff. It says it won't hold up in a situation with water but it DOES! I rubbed some on the spots where the copper was coming through several weeks ago and it still looks great. I think the wax in it repels the water. The pewter color matched perfectly. What a relief! I thought I was going to have to replace a $400 sink and with labor thrown in it would have been a $600 undertaking. I spent about $6 instead! Can't beat that value....I'll be ordering more for other metal objects that have shown wear. It's fun to fix something so easily!

I am so impressed with the Pewter Rub n Buff. I changed my doorknobs from a shiny yellow brass to a satin nickel but all the doors still had shiny (and rusting) yellow brass hinges. Thank goodness for this stuff. I originally purchased the Silver Leaf color from a local store but returned it when I saw the Pewter online. The pewter matches the satin nickel identically. From what I had read online, the Silver Leaf comes off on you if you brush past it even when its dry. I also read that the most difficult thing to use this on is shiny yellow brass. It doesn't "take" as well as other surfaces. That's ok. Do what I did: Clean the surface of the brass with any non-bleach household cleaner or antibacterial wipes, then "rinse" that off with a wet paper towel. Then dry with a paper towel or clean rag. If you have the patience, first sand the surface with steel wool or sandpaper, then follow the cleaning instructions above. I applied with my fingers and let it dry. Anywhere there were streaks showing the brass underneath I went over again with a second coat when the product was dry. I used qtips to clean it up with 100% acetone nail polish remover, which left the paint on the door trim intact, unless I scrubbed too hard, but most of the surrounding paint was left intact, even with the acetone used to remove the product. I also used pointy makeup qtips to clean up the fine lines that the regular qtip couldn't remove. The cost of this would have bought me one hinge or one set of hinges and I did 8 doors (3 hinges each, inside and outside) with this and have enough left over for way more. Awesome product, albeit time-consuming..

I love the finish this wax provides- so much easier to apply than leafing and so much more attractive a finish than spray paint! I use an old white sock to apply- definitely wear gloves of your fingers will also pick up the color. Don't forget to burnish once the wax is dry to create the subtle sheen that makes Rub 'n Buff a standout product!

I bought this Rub 'n Buff Wax Metallic Finish on the off-chance I could use it to transform brass hinges into pewter-look hinges. You see, I'd replaced a cabinet's brass pull with new pewter one. I did not want to replace the corresponding brass hinges, but was also feeling too lazy to take the hinges off the cabinet to refinish them. Instead, I put a very small amount of this product onto a soft cloth and rubbed it onto the visible portion of each hinge while it was still in place on the cabinet. IT WORKED! The hinges' finish now looks pewter. Each hinge moves easily without stiffness and without disturbing the new finish. In fact, the hinges do not look as though they have been "coated" with anything. They just appear to have always had a pewter finish. (Maybe it helped because I only used a very small amount and rubbed it well into the surface of the hinge?) Also, when I checked on the hinges only a day after applying this product, the finish gave me every impression that it is permanent and did not transfer any tint when I gently rubbed it with a cloth. ONE NOTE: This wax metallic finish is fairly easy to control, but I did get a tiny spot on the cabinet while applying it to one hinge. I wiped immediately, but it did not come off completely. Therefore, even if you are lazy like me, do buy some painter's tape and take the time to surround each hinge with tape to protect your cabinet during this process!
