The frame is nice, holds weight really well, nice and light without a load, and has a comfortable belt and straps. The bag has poor quality stitching so I dont expect it to last long. I have two packs from ALPS and I can honestly say its the last one I buy. I recommend you put the money towards something that'll last longer than a couple seasons.

Take the bar off the top of the pack it gets in the way while bushwacking, also the horn is a good place to hang your rifle while you hike. Only draw back is that it’s loud. It squeaks and the connections from the frame to the pack jingle a little. Great for getting all your gear up the mountain. Very comfy just wish it was a little quieter for hunting

Price, size, ability of the things this pack can do. Pack weighs 7.5lbs, not sure how you could make this lighter without sacrificing quality. One reason it's heavier than some other packs is it's bigger. For the money and the quality, I'm very happy.

This bag is huge. It fits all my stuff from my 50l hunting bag in the bottom third of the bag. I'll have room for a sleeping bag, tent, sleeping pad a couple changes of clothes, and probably 5 or 6 days of food if properly packed. The bag, the pack out harness and frame are very well thought out. The rifle Sling is held in by 2 hinged pockets that hold a case of shells in each pocket, with room for extras like compass, maps, snacks, etc. The spotting scope pocket is a bit small. My 20 - 90x 65 scope is stretching the pocket a bit and I will either try to upgrade to a smaller scope or just put the scope in the main compartment and try to find a larger tripod to fit in that pocket. The pack out harness has pockets for GPS units, bear spray, and your trekking poles. Which fits over top of the bag. There are adjustment straps all over the place and it only took me about 5 or 6 pulls on a few of them for me to get the bag comfy half packed. I can imagine this will be very comfortable carrying a hind quarter out of the bush back to the quad this coming fall. If you're on the fence about this bag get it. For the price point it's very nice. It's a heavy bag so if you're looking to cut weight you can probably cut weight on the money you save by buying a nice tent and sleeping system.

Its a very bulky pack. Thats good and bad. Went on an elk hunt that ended 30 mins after shooting light. Spent the rest of the day packing off of a mountain. Parts that were good: Well its got enough room for as much as you can lift. Before the hunt I used it to pack in 100 lbs of corn at a time on my oklahoma lease for my deer hunting. I would carry around my daughters on the shelf while mucking around at the farm. The spare pockets are great, and the basic idea is good.cons: After getting my elk down I packed out the first load and immediately cached my rifle at my pick up because it was flopping around while under weight. Its bulky as hell. Yes you can carry as much as you can lift, but the frame catches any tree limbs. Lucky for me, I was hunting mostly timber less areas of the mountain. If i had to make my way through any brush with the weight, well Id probably still be packing it out.The pockets are great if you're organized but its easy to loose stuff in the main compartment.Final gripe. im 5'10 (guys, if you're 5'10 stop saying youre 6 foot tall) and with a full pack, and it properly set up on my body, the top of the frame was in almost constant contact with the back of my head. It wasn't a deal breaker, but after 6 miles, a few hundred lbs and the knowledge that you have a few trips more, you won't like it.End of the day, Id buy it because its a good price. It holds up. Hell you can pull it off and wash the blood off it, slap it on and go hunt again. Im sure its going to be a great hike bag for back country camp outs. Would I take it to Alaska and hunt alders for moose? No. But for high country and desert, its good enough for a working man who spends his money where it counts.

Just unboxed and began filling pack to test for upcoming winter hike and camp. Have some pros and cons upon immediate inspection. Will update after testing.Pros:- External frame feels solid and shelf will come in handy for hunters or, in my case, retrieving wood and returning to camp- Lots of pockets, well sized, works well to provide immediate access to most of your gear so that main compartment can hold camp supplies, clothes, sleeping gear, etc.- I'm 6'4" 350lbs - big dude, and straps fit around my waist (true waist at the belly button) size 48, and adjustable shoulder straps (broad or narrow, plus in and out adjustments) fit well, too with a 52 chest.Cons:- Stitching was obviously a tradeoff for price. Alot of reviews have pointed out the cheap stitching and I agree. Already finding loose threads all over the pack. Makes it look cheap and less durable. I get it, all those rich dudes out there that think $150 is cheap aren't way off base because backpacks can be pretty ludicrous in price, but in any case, a $150 pack should not have poor stitching.- Pack does not come ready to use out of the box, and you will need to set this up. This is really not a big deal, personally, because I had already planned to switch out hardware, but it's kind of a missed opportunity.Neutrals:- Needs molle straps, like, immediately. There are a few loops single file, on the back pocket, but not molle webbing.- Many online reviews complain about the suspension system; i.e. the pins holding your pack to the frame. People don't like the noise, or how loose they are, or how they poke into you. I immediately purchased 1/4 hex bolts and corresponding rubber expansion nuts (as seen in some videos). I'm not concerned about noise, but would prefer ease of use and comfort.- Alot of people apparently aren't familiar with how external packs fit and feel, because there's alot to say about maneuverability in the wild. This pack, when fully loaded, can be a size challenge for some, especially in tight spaces or on inclines/declines. Come prepared.- Internal space gets filled up quick if you're carrying a large (e.g. winter) bag. You'll need to make some decisions on how and where to carry other gear, whether externally attached to the frame, or simply not carrying it.Overall, I chose this bag because of it's versatility and weight capacity. I'm a big guy and I'm comfortable using this as a large bug out bag, a hiking bag, a camping bag, or a freight loader. I specifically wanted the shelf to be able to carry heavy items to camp, and to carry wood back as well.

Excellent pack. The link ups rattle so I would recommend taping them after purchase. I do 4 and 5 day pack hunts and I usually carry about 70lb of gear in with me on average. I have always over packed my Alice pack but after getting this pack. Night and day. I would like to have had more molly attachments and a few things I will be upgrading in the future but this pack is a great buy. While fully loaded with a long gun in carry it seems to favor the left side because the long gun is not in center carry. I offset this by how I put weight in the pack. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase.

This pack is much larger than it appears on the images, it stands approximately 3 feet tall. This thing has plenty of room, and a metal bar that holds the top open. The top flap covers the upper half of the pack, which is nice, and at 7.2 pounds, is a manageable weight, but still feels extremely sturdy. The pins used to customize the size of the frame and placement of the shoulder straps come with cotter pins and rings. I recommend the rings, as the cotter pins will rotate and can poke you in the back and shoulders when moving. My only complaint, other than the cotter pins, is that it came with a secondary pack bag, which i won't use. I see the purpose in it, and i ordered the pack that came with it (I get that), but an option for a rain cover would have been nice. Further, for the purpose that i plan on using it, I will also drop the folding shelf to reduce the weight a little more. I have only taken it on one short hike, with a light load, but it seems to be sturdy. The zippers are large, solid, and tight, and the material appears like it will hold up to some abuse. Overall, I would recommend this pack, especially for the price point.
