Needed this item to drill holes for drainage in some glazed ceramic pots we have on hand, they were wearing out my drill bits and not making a dent in anything other than the glaze. These little beauties make short work of the hard as nails Ceramic pots.

Well made. 1/4 QD chuck compatible. Compact set has common sizes. I drilled 2 holes in some bathroom tile with excellent results. My only issue is the case is awkward. The latching mechanism is cumbersome and unintuitive. Regardless of this minor complaint, I would recommend these for any DIY’er.

I enjoy making solar light decorations from used glass bottles. Despite the claim that thy are waterproof, I have found that the solar panel that goes on the bottle like a cork does let some water through. My solution is to drill a small hole in the bottom of the bottle to let any water that gets in, leak back out. The glass at thee bottom of most bottles is much thicker than the sides, as you can see in the pictures, which makes drilling a hole there a challenge. These drill bits were up to the challenge but in both attempts to drill the hole, the bottle broke or cracked just as the bit was penetrating the inside. I did not deduct a star for this because I think with practice I will be able to drill a clean hole. I was impressed with how smooth the holes were. I did not use any water or oil for drilling which left the ultra fine grained glass created by the drill to accumulate. next time I am going to collect the ground glass to use in other projects. I think the reason that the bottles cracked shortly after the drill bit made penetration is that I was not able to hold the drill steady enough. Next time I am going to clamp the bottle in a vise so I have better control rather than just hold it in my hand. I am sure that drilling a hole in a flat piece of class or tile will produce a superior result and no cracking.

Great idea and definitely something I could use. This particular set just did not work for me.I wanted to make a small table lamp out of a special wine bottle for a friend of mine. I ordered these so I could drill a hole for the cord to go up through the bottom of the bottle. I tried this out with the 3/16 inch bit to make sure everything worked properly on a beer bottle before trying it on the wine bottle. Although it started out great and was making a good hole, just before punching through all the way, it broke the bottle. Maybe it works better on flat glass. I’ll give it one more try in a few days to see if it was just a freak thing and they do actually work. As of now, I love the idea but not this particular product.

Performs as advertised. Great for use with ceramic tiles, marble or alike. Works with glass plate but be careful, can easily break the glass when it’s finishing the cut if you allow it to drift a little or get to greedy with the amount to cut away. Recommend using some type of lubricant while using these to bore your holes.
