STROTON Metric M42 8% Cobalt Twist Drill Bits Set for Stainless Steel and Hard Metal (1mm-10mm/19pcs)

M42 drill bits
single bit

Why choose STROTON cobalt drill bits?

The research shows that HSS with cobalt has a higher temperature resistance and Red hardness, a greater wear resistance(Hardness) and a higher heat treat response than HSS without cobalt .

  • Red hardness, it causes the hardened steel to have an ability to maintain hardness at approximately 860-880 ℃.
  • Higher Tempering resistance,it means to maintain a high hardness at high temperatures for an extended period of time.
  • 68-70 HRC,it means that the drill bits has 3X cutting ability and 2X durability.
  • This drill bits set is made of Premium Cobalt (80,000 dollars per ton).

M42 Cobalt 8% Alloy

  • This drill bits set is made of Premium Cobalt (80,000 dollars per ton).
  • Holds up better than generic high-speed steel,8% Cobalt gives high-speed steel more heat and wear resistance.

3 Steps . Design (3X-5X Drilling Efficiency)

  • 3 Steps design tip starts drilling immediately with less force and eliminates "walking" across the work surface.
  • Ideal for Stainless steel and Hardmetal,Hardwood,Aluminum,Copper,Plastic and Hardwood.

steel

Ideal for Metal and Hardwood

  • Suitable for drilling Stainless Steel,Hard Metals,Aluminum,Copper,Plastic and Hardwood.
  • The 3 steps design makes it accurately centered for woodworking jobs that require precision drilling.
  • Also, the cobalt-containing design makes it perform even better in hardwood drilling.

Be vertical

The drill bit should be perpendicular to the workpiece when used.

  • Non-vertical use may cause the drill bit to break.
  • Using a drill press with sufficient power will make drilling easier.
  • Do not use the drill bit on a percussion drill.
  • This Drill bit can not be used on glass, walls and concrete.

low speed

Controling the drill speed from 200 to 1000 RPM would make it easier for you to drill holes on stainless steel.

  • A high RPM does not improve drilling efficiency, but rather increases the heat between the bit and the workpiece, which may cause the bit to soften and the workpiece to harden.
  • Drill diameter≤5mm,RPM(1000~700)
  • 5-10mm,RPM(700~350)
  • 10-15mm,RPM(350~200)

cutting fluid

Using cutting fluid will make the bit last longer.

  • Add stainless steel tapping oil or engine oil to prevent the stainless steel from overheating and forming a very hard oxide layer.
  • It also works adding some vinegar, soy sauce or water if you don't have engine oil.

This is a decent set of M42 bits at a GREAT PRICE. The VALUE is outstanding. Drill at appropiate speed, with cutting fluid on a DRILL PRESS and they should last a while for DIY use. M42 bits are very hard, but brittle, and are best used in a drill press. I found that one of the bits had an imperfect cutting edge and contacted Stroton's customer service as described in the instructions. They responded within 12 hours, communication was professional, and they replaced the bit within one day shipped from Amazon. Now THAT is what I call great customer service. Needless to say that I bought some other drill bits from them and they are still going strong. Buy with confidence!

I purchased these bits sometime ok...They are very sharp and cut into any material with ease and some cutting fluid of course!! However I did break a few on a project and dulled 4 bits...I contacted costumer service and within a few days they sent me a complete replacement with no questions asked.... Best companies costumer service I dealt with in forever!! Awesomeness!!

I wanted to stress that these are M42 cobalt. They are hard, for drilling hard metal. M42 is brittle! Not for use in hand drills. But if you have a drill press or machine tool, these are sharp and well ground, with a lifetime breakage guarantee. I've never used bits with this stepped cutting edge before. I haven't used them enough to know if that really helps. But they are 135 degree (less wander and less downforce needed) points, and center cutting (less heat and less downforce needed). I don't do much in metric, but they are a good addition to my complete sets of cobalt fractional/number/letter drills.

I didn’t try it on stainless yet, but I like the packaging. I like the quality of it. It was shipped promptly. Everything is great.

First off I NEVER leave reviews on products. This company is better than Snap-on and all the tool trucks on their warranty policy and I’ll tell you why.First of all, the bits are great! They have a great cutting action and cut through hardened steel like butter. They really are quality bits. However, they ARE 8% cobalt which makes them very brittle. Any bit that’s 8% cobalt is going to snap now and again especially when using the smaller sizes on hardened steel. The reason I say they are better than tool truck quality is that for one, they cut hardened steel like butter just like any Snap-on or Matco 8% cobalt bit will. The second reason is their warranty on the bits and their prompt customer service responses.I’m a professional mechanic and we tend to drill out a lot of broken off license plate bolts so we use the 3mm, 3.5mm, 4mm, 4.5mm and 5mm drill bits to gradually drill pilot holes into the broken off bolts and then re-tap the hole with the standard 6x1.0 tap that most cars have their license plate bolts threaded to. I first broke a 3mm, contacted the company, and they sent me a 5 piece kit of their 3mm bits for nothing! Now I recently broke a 5mm bit yesterday, I contacted Stroton again and they got back to me within 24 hours. I mentioned that I broke the 5mm bit now and explained to them that I love the cutting action of these bits and also mentioned that I use the 3mm to 5mm bits often for broken bolt removal. Instead of just sending me one 5mm bit to replace the bit I actually broke, they’re literally sending me a 5 pack of each size from 3mm to 5mm (including the half sizes) so if I break another bit I’ll have extras on hand! The tool trucks typically have a warranty on their bits, but they put a disclaimer in there that says they won’t replace ANY bit for free if it’s from a certain size down because they know they’ll crack easy at 8% cobalt and they don’t want to replace those smaller sized bits because they know people WILL break them. This company literally just sent me a boat load of bits to cover me just so in case I break another small one, I’ll have 4 more ready to go now in the event I snap another one! Their warranty policy is basically, “you break it, we’ll replace it”! GREATEST COMPANY AND BEST WARRANTY POLICY PERIOD!

I don't normally stop to review products unless it's something I use quite a bit and have tried other brands of the same type of product. Well I've burned, dulled, busted, even horribly abused all sorts of drill bits. They all seem to be about equal pretty much across the board. Some maybe a little bit better in performance. Nothing that really stood out to brag about. Ok I picked up this inexpensive set (I was going say cheap set because the price is very reasonable for what you actually get). These fricken drill bits are absolutely worth every single cent I spent on them. So worth it that I'm out here looking for a large set that has both metric and standard in the M42 8% cobalt grade these are. If you peck drill with this set I don't doubt they will last a good long time. And the warranty is incredible. Lifetime replacement. No one can beat that. I'll have to say tho, I haven't had to contact them yet for getting any replaced if needed. Let's just hope that would be a smooth process as well. I'm hoping. But I gotta tell you, I'm pretty busy at the moment, but stopped just to write this because I'm actually out here looking for a larger set from Stroton as where these came from. They are everything the boast in advertising and then some. Goes thru steel like it's no big deal. But remember to peck drill so you don't over heat the bit. That goes for any drill bit out there. But if and when you get these and try them, you will not be disappointed. At least I'm not. But then again I am 57 years young. So I have a little bit of experience on how to actually use a drill bit properly. If you don't have much knowledge about drilling, remember one thing, peck drill. If you don't know what that means, look it up. You will get way better results and your bits will last twice as long if not more. I know one thing, I'll get more than twice the expected life out of these due to the fact that they perform incredibly well. Like they stand out better than the average norm. They got me as a loyal customer. I really like'm. You'd have to tear them out of my dead hands to gett'm from me. So don't even try. Buy your own. They're right here, where you're reading this review. Good luck, have fun and happy drilling. Now a message to the seller of these bits.... where are the large sets of these bits. I don't see any. If you have one send me. Link. If not, than you'd better get one quick before I begin testing other sellers that have larger sets. Thanks for the bit. Good sht for real...!!!
